Final Expense Insurance purchased through Ethos is a straight-forward guaranteed- or simplified-issue whole life policy. No medical exam is required (though some health questions are asked) to purchase the insurance, which offers up to $30,000 in coverage—in many cases an adequate sum to cover such expenses as memorial services, burial, or anything else beneficiaries choose. The policy, like other whole life insurance, accumulates cash value as customers pay premiums.

With an easy application process and guaranteed acceptance, Ethos Final Expense insurance is a solid choice for customers seeking reassurance that their families will be less burdened by bills when they pass away.

Ethos Policy Features

Policy Features - 4.3 / 5

Final Expense (guaranteed-issue) insurance purchased through Ethos is a graded-benefit policy. If a policyholder suffers a non-accidental death within the first two or three years of purchasing insurance, beneficiaries receive 110-130% of premiums paid to date. Full benefits are available in the case of accidental death within the first two or three years or in the case of death by any cause thereafter. (Death Benefit grading, accidental death benefits, and percent of premiums paid can vary based on available product offerings.) If, however, applicants are approved for a simplified issue product, then there is no graded-benefit. Beneficiaries are entitled to full death benefits in the event the policy matures.

While there are medical questions as part of Ethos’ application process, there are no medical exams required for policy purchase and coverage is guaranteed for applicants aged 66-85. Premiums remain the same for the life of the policies until a policyholder reaches 100 years old (or later in some cases), after which the policy matures (is no longer in force) and the insured gets a check for the death benefit.
