AirDoctor is an air purifier manufacturing company headquartered in Van Nuys, California. It has been in business since 2006 and currently sells a single air purifier model to residents of all 50 states.

Functionality

The AirDoctor purifier is large enough to filter the air in a 2,400-square-foot room once every hour, so that should accommodate all except the largest spaces. This heavy-duty unit is designed to run for long periods of time. Exactly how long it can purify air for effectively depends on the size of the space and its air quality to start with. According to the manufacturer, the AirDoctor's Gas Trap VOC filter should last approximately six months if running 24/7 and its UltraHEPA filter should last about 12 months. If your purifier is running less, these filters will last longer.

The unit is backed by a one-year limited warranty. This does not include the filters. It also includes automatic settings that can turn the purifier on and adjust the speeds as necessary to maintain optimal air quality without overworking the purifier and sensors that let you know when the filters need to be changed.

Filtration and CADR ratings

Air purifiers have three CADR ratings that indicate how well it does at filtering out various contaminants with a higher rating indicating that the purifier does a better job of filtering out that particular contaminant. The AirDoctor has a 326 rating for smoke, a 343 rating for dust and a 373 rating for pollen. These are higher ratings than you see with many other comparable air purifiers, so it's a good choice for homes with poor air quality or those who need a very clean environment.

The AirDoctor purifier includes an UltraHEPA filter. HEPA filters are designed to trap particles down to 0.3 microns, and they're usually held up as the standard for high-quality air filtration. But the UltraHEPA filter traps particles down to 0.003 microns -- that's 100 times smaller than the typical HEPA filter. So for the AirDoctor and the IQ Air, they capture particles as small as 0.003 microns, as compared to the Germ Guardian that captures particles ay 0.3 microns. The AirDoctor backs all of this up with an air ionizer, which you can turn on and off at your own convenience. This can also help remove particles from the air and it can also eliminate odors, leaving the room smelling fresher.

Manufacturer reliability and customer service

AirDoctor maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and it stands by its product with a one-year limited warranty. If you experience any issues with the purifier or you have any questions, you can reach out to the company six days per week via phone or at any time via email. You can also view a copy of the purifier's manual on its website, which should address some of the most common concerns. AirDoctor also qualifies as an Energy Star certified appliance.

I live in Palm Springs. When my air conditioner is on, there is an iodizing device that clears the air. In the rest of the months (about 6 to7 months), I do not use the furnace/air conditioner. I ran the machine, maybe 15 hours a week max. My machine is now near 2 years old, and it is out of warranty. If I plug it in, there are sparks at the outlet, and I will not plug it in for fear of an electrical fire. The machine does not turn on. The filters are not even dirty. The response from the company was it was out of warranty. They wanted a video, but I will not plug it in for them. This is an expensive machine, and I deserve a replacement.

I was just getting ready to buy your filter but saw the double charge reviews with no response. I’m headed elsewhere.

The product works well. The company is deceptive. I have a receipt from my replacement filters purchase showing the full amount I should have been charged. I discovered I was overcharged when it appeared on my credit card. They are not refunding the difference. Buyers beware when dealing with this company!!

decent product, terrible customer service. Buy at your own risk. This is just my opinion, but I've had repeated lousy experiences with this company's Cust Service dep't. If you purchase from these guys I'd advise you to not buy on a multiple payment option. They get things wrong and don't fix them. They don't follow up. They drop the ball and then send harassing letters. Check out their ratings on Better Business Bureau. It's not just me. PS- just spoke to them and was able to confirm they've been using an incorrect email address. Maybe this time I'll get a confirmation; still, they had said my card wouldn't authorize and when I spoke to Visa I was told there was no record of any attempt... Read More

This company charged my credit card twice and number one never bothered to tell me until I noticed it myself and number 2, I've been trying to get them to refund the charge. Every time I call and email I get a different answer and am told they will "look into it". They tell me it's because of a computer glitch, well then fix it and give me back my $387 dollars!!! Still haven't received a refund as of today 11/2020
