We use this company for our volunteer screenings. Over the years, their service has grown slower.
Most recent series of checks, 50% are hung up for now one week as “in progress”. All are individuals who have had background checks done just 2 years ago, and who we know have no violations since then (our policy is every 2 years, no exceptions).
The other 50% of checks came back immediately.
Yes, this company offers a wide variety of check types. But their service continues to slow for no legal or records-based reason, we will be looking for another provider.
Completer scam! They did not provide any background check after few days, it is all stuck on pending my credentials
Needed a quick copy of my Driving Record to email to an Apostille in D.C. to be sent overseas. Background checks.com sent me an incomplete report showing both my name and birthdate could not be verified! I had to have a friend receive the paper copy from the DMV in my home state to be sent to D.C. for Apostille. My home state DMV found both my name and birthdate for $5. Background checks charged me $49.99 for a worthless document. I phoned customer service and they refused a refund. These guys are CROOKS! Now, I’m having to open and persue a claim with my credit card company to get my money back!
I’m a VP of HR, and have been in HR roles for nearly 15 years. I’ve never had an experience with a background check company like the one I had with backgroundchecks.com. TLDR: don’t use this company. I’ve been trying for five weeks to access the background reports I submitted for quite a few employees. The end result? This company has the personal information of multiple team members, plus banking, filing, and other sensitive information about the company, and it was all extracted from me in good faith as part of what I believed was their “credentialing” process. On top of that, they have the money I spent for the background check results I never got. Needless to say, my antenna... Read More
The customer service is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Once they get you signed us a "valued" customer ... you are no longer valuable to them! Doesn't matter the day or time of day your call for customer service, they will keep you on hold for 18 minutes and then make you leave your name and number and say they will call you back. I have done this THREE times, sent just as many emails and have received NO response. Funny thing ... on their answering machine, they proudly say they provide "excellent customer service" .... couldn't be further from the truth.
So if you are looking for a company to do background checks ... don't stop here ... keep looking!
Ran my employee check 6 days ago. They never will respond to support requests submitted via their site and didn't finish the check. Had to run the background check with another company.
Spent at least an hour on hold to be directed to a vm box that no one called me back on.
Horrible.
I have been trying to contact your business for 2 hours have left a call back number 4 times, get called back but there is no one on the line????? There our no pros with this company only cons!!
100% scam. Do not use. I paid for a background check, knowing there was something to find and they didn't even check and then the refuse to refund.
Terrible customer service. Never received a report and went online myself and found all the info I needed, in the clerk of courts site. Company provided faulty services and will not even refund money for services not provided. Scammers.
