Services
Facet believes that every decision is a financial decision, so the financial plan Facet provides you with takes all facets of your life into account. The company considers major life events, such as marriage, starting a family, buying a new home, switching jobs, retiring, and more. Facet offers one of the broadest ranges of planning services. Need help with primary financial functions like budgeting and managing debt? Facet has you covered. The company can assist you with many investment decisions as well, including retirement and education planning, life insurance strategies, and estate planning.
Credentials
As a Registered Investment Advisor, Facet is regulated by and registered with the SEC. The custodians that Facet use for investment accounts carry SIPC and their clients are covered through the custodian directly.
Facet has over 100 Certified Financial Planners on staff who work closely with the company's Associate Planner team, its Investment Ops team, as well as a team that specializes in insurance, estate planning, and tax issues. Facet is committed to providing comprehensive education to its members and issue-specific expertise as demanded by the structure of each member's customized financial plan.
We noted that Facet is not a member of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FINRA), an organization that helps regulate companies offering financial advice to ensure that clients are treated fairly. Membership in FINRA is optional and not required by law, but many top wealth management companies choose to join.
Fee Structure
Facet charges a clear fixed fee for its services. Fees will vary depending on the services rendered, although they generally range between $1,800 and $6,000 per year, with a minimum annual membership fee of $2,400. Fees are typically calculated and billed on an annually or quarterly basis.
Because Facet financial planning includes investment management in addition to financial planning for every facet of life, the fixed fee does not depend on whether or not a member chooses to invest any money with Facet. For members that choose to utilize Facet for investment management, the ETFs they utilize have among the lowest possible fees (0.11% on average).
Online Resources
True to its company name, Facet publishes a library of educational articles that is organized by the many "facets" of its customers lives.
