Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Why am I getting stuck with paying for the labor on claim #199953558?

Zero stars!!!!! When I press one star, it automatically defaults to three stars ,it is so frustrating to make a claim with CHW. Most recently my ac went out and the first ac company came out and diagnose the problem and had the part on the truck to fix it but CHW chose to get a second opinion so they had to reschedule for a second AC company to come out. The second night she can’t but he came out and didn’t know why they were there and said they couldn’t service my unit. Then CHW assigned it to a third AC company. They diagnose the problem exactly the same as the first company and fixed it but it took over a week with no air-conditioning before that finally occurred and over five phone... Read More

Tony with Optimum Air was awesome! He was very personable and easy to communicate with. He listened to my complaint and worked hard to address them. He is the 3rd tech to come out regarding our AC issue and yet he was the only one who was able to fix it. Would definitely recommend him!

I have been a total plan customer for about 2 years. I have used the service twice since I started it. The first time was about my furnace not coming on to heat the house. It was a simple fix requiring the cleaning of the temperature sensor that opens the gas valve. The current request is much different. I have a very old garage door opener that quit working last month. It is pre 1993 so it does not have the safety infrared sensors on the garage door rails required by law now. A guy from a company called AtoZ came out and looked at it and said it would have to replaced. It is a very old Chamberlain model and no parts are available to fix it.
