I was told Freedom bought out RoundPoint Mortgage - the company who serviced my loan. I wanted to get my rate lowered - no cash out - just a lower rate. I experienced the same thing as a few other commenters below. At first the closing costs and rate were going to be low. The man told me he could shave off $137 in my current monthly payments. Great! By the time we were headed to close the monthly savings went down to only $27! They decided to take out another $100 a month for my property taxes - just in case they went up for the year. And the closing costs kept going up by the thousands. So NONE of his quotes were close to the reality of the situation. It was one thing after... Read More
We started a re-fi around Dec 2020 - Jan 2021. After submitting the required paperwork we settled on a closing date of Feb 10th. No one showed up for the closing and no one notified us that we were not closing on that date! After a few phone calls and many promises and some runaround we finally got another closing date. Things went smoothly on the next closing. Freedom customer service seems a bit disjointed, there seems to be no coordination within the organization. This is evidenced by the fact that you can get different answers depending which location you are connected to. There were failed return calls, rude support personnel and just a downright lack of coordination. As for their... Read More
I have read all the below reviews and I agree with all! I am having a terrible time with this mortgage company..... since June 2020. I have never known of any company as bad as this one.
Beware all....stay away!!
I started a refinancing effort with Freedom Mortgage in early October, 2020. It was a simple home refinancing from my original monthly payment to a slightly lower one, which Freedom had solicited me on. Freedom held my original mortgage, and all I was trying to do is reduce my interest rate. As of 1/19/21, Freedom was still asking for documents. Over the 3 month period, the document requests grew from about 7 to over 15, along with requests for documents I had previously sent. Additionally, Freedom added on documents that were either difficult to obtain or were extraneous to the process. I finally gave up. After 3 months of this, I got the impression that either they didn't want my... Read More
Freedom Mortgage is terrible. My husband financed our home with a VA loan through Freedom Mortgage. My husband passed away May 20, 2019. I sold the home November 20, 2020. I had no problem selling the home with a clear title. I have $2,700 in the escrow account that Freedom Mortgage should refund to me. The mortgage was in my husbands name so I sent them the death certificate, will, letter from the probate court and my identification. I have called every week asking where the refund is. Every week I get someone different who does nothing other than tell me they will send the information to the department who handles the refunds. When I ask to speak to that department I am told... This company is rude and doesn’t know how to properly escrow taxes. Every year since I refinanced with them my payments have gone up because my escrow was always short. Now I’m paying almost $200 more a month. I understand taxes/insurance fluctuate, but with my previous lender, I was NEVER short on escrow and was actually over. I wouldn’t recommend this company to finance a pop tart. I will be looking to refinance with a different company
I was doing a streamline loan with them ,first estimated closing cost I was told would be about 666.00 then it when up about three times to somewhere around 2290.00 schedule to close on 29th of November wife and took off work they did email call nothing left us hanging rescheduled for 13 December now they want me to pay interest something like another 444.00 dollars because they dropped the ball so here it is December 13 and once again no call no email and no closing and wife and I had to take time off work i have never worked with mortgage company so incompetent. I mean really this is our home please read bbb reviews as I'm sure they will have this.taken down zero rating is what they... Read More
WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY EVER!
FM took over from my previous mortgage company and started by reporting my mortgage as LATE before they even set up my account to accept payment. Unfortunate for me, it was right when I was closing on another property and became a red flag. I paid Freedom as soon as they allowed me to set up electronic payment, but that was not before the damage had already been done. I am now on hold (about an hour so far) for someone there to fix this problem. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.
What you hear up front is far from what you will actually see in writing. I was approved and after meeting all the Underwriters silly requests, we scheduled a closing. The first closing got cancelled by the notary, saying they had not received the closing documents yet. This happened 3 more times. I was never able to see a closing disclosure that was accurate. After 4 failed attempts to close I assumed their closing department just can't get it done. I chose to move on and find anyone else to deal with.
In the beginning before you made your decision to use their refinance product, they wanted to talk to you several times everyday. Once you submitted your application, they just disappeared. Emails returned saying the person has left for the day, but she got back from vacation more than a week later. They don't give a lists of required documents up front, just one at a time. When you ask for a list, the reply was impatient and impolite. I understand they try to streamline and automate the process to save cost, but basic customer service training is still essential in any business.
I applied for a home refinance. I explained my financial situation up front and also told how much cash I wanted to pull out . The first week everything was fine with "no problems". As time went along I was asked just about daily to supply different documents. It got to the point where i said let me all the documents needed for the refinance. After a months time I was offered a refinance with no where near the amount of money I wanted to pull out. The final thing was I was told they were still "playing with the numbers". I asked point blank was it going to happen. It was only then that I was told they would not do the refinance. Terrible customer service. In the months time i could have... Read More
