HealthPlanRate.com - Overview

HealthPlanRate.com offers a quick and easy to use online interface for procuring in-marketplace healthcare plans. HealthPlanRate.com automatically ascertains where you are browsing from and customizes its exchange plans to your area. The company can pair you with local and top providers such as BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, and Aetna. Customers can either apply online or talk to a licensed agent over the phone to find the plan that's right for them and their family. HealthPlanRate.com also can determine if customers qualify for financial subsidies depending on their state.

Types of Plans Available with HealthPlanRate.com

HealthPlanRate.com offers the standard HMO, PPO, and EPO plans in all the "metal" tiers of coverage in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The tiers of Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum are all standardized coverage under the ACA and offer the same options regardless of which company you use or the area in which you live.

The Bronze Plan features the lowest monthly premium but the largest out-of-pocket expense for actual medical care. Bronze plans pay 60% of medical expenses and also have the highest deductible. Similarly, the Silver Plan pays 70% of medical expenses and also features a lower monthly premium. These two tiers are ideal for younger people who want to be liable for a lower monthly fee and are not so inclined to illness. The Gold and Platinum Plans pay 80% and 90% respectively. These plans have the highest monthly premium but also provide the highest payouts and most comprehensive coverage. Aside from premiums, deductibles, and compansation, the plans also differ in ways delineated in the below table:

Providers

On-exchange providers are graded a letter based on performance. This grade is generally based on such factors as claims paying speed and ability, ease of reimbursement, financial stability, and customer service. HealthPlanRate.com features some of the largest players in the insurance industry, including UnitedHealthCare, AARP, and Anthem. However, by providing your personal information you are consenting to being contacted by third parties as outlined in their privacy policy. ConsumersAdvocate.org strongly recommends you look into the reputation of any provider HealthPlanRate.com offers to pair you with before committing to anything.

Application

HealthPlanRate.com initially needs only your zip code to get the quote process underway. The company may then require the following information:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Tobacco Use
  • Income
  • Qualifying Event (if outside of open enrollment)
  • Address, email, and phone

The company then supplies you with a list of estimated costs from local and national health insurance providers.

Health Insurance with HealthPlanRate.com

HealthPlanRate.com is a particularly good option for those looking for individual health insurance plans who are not 100% familiar with what is available in their area. The website features a convenient comparison tool that allows customers to look at quotes from local and national providers.

I will never, ever do business with this company. What happened to me yesterday should not have happened, especially at the hands of an obviously immature, condescending and perhaps mentally deficient "licensed agent". This pathetic excuse for a human proceeded to send me a text (after he felt his time answering my questions was an apparent waste of his time) that went something like this..."I'd rather not deal with you if that's the type of person you are. Good day sir please don't call us back. Actually I'll put you on the national do not call lost. Good luck asshole" It will be my personal pleasure to post on social media this text and do all I can to stop people from using your... Read More
