Blue Apron is a nationwide meal delivery service that provides fresh ingredients and recipes for quick, simple, healthy, home-cooked meals. Customers are sent a refrigerated box or two, containing all the necessary ingredients for new recipes created each week. Instead of spending time on the shelf or in transit, the ingredients come straight from the farm to your door. Blue Apron’s culinary team develops new recipes every week, letting home chefs enjoy and discover new cuisines and cooking methods.

About Blue Apron

Founded in 2012, Blue Apron is a nationwide fresh ingredient and recipe delivery service that helps home chefs everywhere create incredible meals in the kitchen in 40 minutes or less.  Each week customers receive a refrigerated box (or two) containing all of the ingredients they need including locally sourced produce and sustainably raised proteins. Boxes contain educational cards highlighting seasonal crops and supplier stories, and each set of ingredients corresponds with its own recipe card that has instructions, pictures, and helpful cooking tips.

Blue Apron’s culinary team works directly with farmers to turn local produce into delicious and healthy meals (only 500-800 calories per serving). Recipes are never repeated during the year, so customers can learn to cook a wide variety of culinary dishes and enjoy many different cuisines.

In addition to the recipe cards included with each delivery, Blue Apron also provides helpful online tools. From interactive recipe pages to how-to videos, customers can learn how to properly chop, mince, and improve their cooking techniques.

Blue Apron now offers customers menus and recipes designed by Weight Watchers.

Ingredients

Blue Apron sources its ingredients from its network of suppliers and 100+ family-run farms who employ regenerative farming practices that preserve the soil for future use. The farmers and ranchers raise animals with respect and without any added hormones or sub-therapeutic antibiotics.

Many of Blue Apron’s direct relationships offer USDA certified organic ingredients.  They work closely with their suppliers to ensure that their quality standards are met.

All the seafood is sourced from sustainable fisheries. These are rated green (Best Choice) or yellow (Good Alternative) by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, a non-profit organization that is a highly respected authority on seafood sustainability.

I bought a meal package for a friend to alleviate stress of cooking. She was excited to use it and then she received a cancel order. I contacted blue apron to report the issue. They said it was not blue apron but my friend was never able to order food. Blue apron went ahead and charged me for meals NEVER ordered, delivered or service.

Expensive, complicated to make, and not enough food, or our average-sized appetite family.

I want to share my experience with anyone who might read this. I have used Blue Apron for meal deliveries a few times over the past several years. I honestly don't remember how long ago it's been since I had active deliveries set up with them. Recently, I re-downloaded the Blue Apron app to my phone, and logged in to the app, to research whether or not Blue Apron offers any Keto friendly meal kits. When the app first opened I recall a pop up stating that my payment information on my account was expired, requesting that I update my payment information. I closed the box, and did not enter updated payment information, as I had no intention of actually signing back up at that time, I was... Read More

I really like the healthy quality and the convenience of the meals. Most are really tasty but I have complained over and over that the quality of the garlic they send you is absolute crap! Buy your own garlic and make a tastier meal with it, the ugly cloves they send you are from Mexico and should be somewhere like Gilroy, CA. My biggest gripe with them is that their customer service is completely absent. They have yet to reply to any form emails I have sent to them through their website. You would think they would want to retain customers -- the best way to get rid of them is not by cancellation but simply cancel your credit card and get another one sent to you. Blue Apron is so idiotic... Read More

I got two meals on June 27, 2020. Should have been here the 26th. Chicken had been defrosted for I don't know how long and so was the sausage for some chicken meal. The ground turkey luckily was in between the ice packs and still very cold. I sent an email to try to get the issue resolved. I waited until like Tuesday the 30th because email response was backed up from 5-10 days??? So I called. Got a live body. Told me that I would get a credit for the meal, like 27 bucks or so. Mind you, I had just signed up for this. They give you no protocol on how it works nothing. I also asked in an email about gluten free foods and they don't cater to that diet plan specifically or will list it. Only... Read More

We have been a Blue Apron customer for over six years. During these years, the mishaps (e.g broken containers, missing ingredients) have been minor and quickly resolved. The meals are easy and quick (about 30 mins) to prepare. What I enjoy the most is the quality and variety of ingredients. Also, I love cooking with lesser known ingredients without having to buy a whole box...e.g. ras el hanout, saffron, Szechwan peppercorns.

The plan did not work for us. I had to cancel. Be aware, if you cancel there is a $37.00 convenience fee.

Contents of box was covered with blood, food was warm we were afraid to eat it. Tried to contact the company online, ask they though the food was safe to eat. They also came back with a check mark and the statement “Problem Solved”

So far I'm not to happy. I went to the site and thought it was weird that you have to give your credit card number before you could even see your choices with this program. Then within minutes I tried to cancel my account and they had already charged my card and told me that they could not refund my order. When I called they said they would refund my money but it could take up to 7 days. This all happened in less that 10 minutes and I feel like it's poor customer care. And to cancel your account is ridiculous. For an account that has record of your credit card number you should have more options to cancel your account.
