Overall Rating: 3.8 / 5 (Very good)

PeopleLooker focuses on location, demographic information, and limited criminal searches, including sex offender registries. It also searches for property data and provides satellite imaging when possible.

Its parent company, BeenVerified has received many complaints regarding inaccurate reporting of information. This is, however, not entirely unusual for automated background searches as their information can only be as accurate as the public records they’re drawing from. Unfortunately, public records are sometimes incomplete or erroneous - especially when it comes to common names - so unless there are investigators sorting out good data from bad data, the information cannot be guaranteed as 100% accurate. It's important to note that PeopleLooker searches are not FCRA-compliant, so they should not be conducted on anyone that would be considered an employee (even household workers or nannies), among other restricted purposes. Overall, users looking to locate old friends or distant family members, or to have the ability to run quick criminal background searches on potential dates, might do well with this service. Those needing more robust, comprehensive searches, or that will be using for employment purposes, will want to look elsewhere.

PeopleLooker Background Check Details

Report Quality - 4.3 / 5

PeopleLooker is not very specific about its sources, simply saying it searches billions of public records, including criminal records and sex offender registries. It is also unclear how many jurisdictions it covers in its criminal records searches (if the individual has lived in multiple counties over the past ten years, for example, a good search would cover at least three of those). They also don't state whether they search federal as well as county courts.

Aside from criminal records, its screening mostly focuses on location, demographic data, and social media. Interestingly, unlike many competitors, PeopleLooker includes property searches results with satellite imagery.

Consumer Litigation and Regulatory Actions

An FTC complaint was filed against parent company BeenVerified alleging that, although BeenVerified claimed it would remove customers' information from their database if asked, it instead temporarily took it out from results, then republished them later, sometimes with updated information the customer provided in the "opt-out" form.

PeopleLooker Pricing

Pricing - 4.5 / 5

PeopleLooker does not offer one-time searches. It works on a subscription-based model instead, which automatically renews unless the customer cancels first. It has two levels of membership: one month-to-month for $18.28 and one for three months for $14.62 per month ($43.86 upfront). Note that in certain counties where criminal searches have to be done by hand (e.g. records are not stored digitally), there will likely be an added charge as most companies have to get court runners to search records in person.

Your review is not accurate! There is no free report from peoplelooker.com. It is a colossal waste of time! You must get paid by them to write the review...only one positive review in BBB, 42 negatives and you give them a 4 1/2 rating!!!!
