Capital One Financial Strength and Reputation

Financial Strength - 4.5 / 5

Capital One is one of the largest banks in the US by assets and it holds stable credit ratings from two of the top bond rating agencies in the world. Moody's, however, has rated its financial outlook as "negative," though this is mostly due to the company's expansion of its loan portfolio and not indicative that the company is in any real trouble. As for its reputation with customers, though Capital One is rated A+ by the BBB, a large number of complaints have been lodged with this organization and with the CFPB. Nevertheless, this number is to be expected for a company of Capital One's size.

Only do business with capital one if it's your only option. I have had 2 auto loans and have 2 credit cards with them. The auto loans were OK bit I was never late and paid them off early. The credit cards are horrible. Just found out that using a capital one credit card with venmo or PayPal is the same as a cash advance at an atm. So they charge you a 10.00 cash advance fee plus a cash advance percentage fee of the total card balance every month there is a balance on the credit card. So you get charged interest twice. NEVER again for me.

I had been a Capital one Customes for over 10 years or maybe more since I can't remember the years. I have to tell you that, as years gone by my interest is only getting worst with them. I never seems to pay my low balance and as I found out today my Interest is 28.1% with my credit score of 750 +. I has made double payments from as far as I can remember and still my interest is the same as it fees that even when my payments gone 3 times within the month my balance never ends. Does anyone else feels like this is getting RIDICULOS? I think it's time to fight back ang find ways for the publics attorneys to get our moneys back. Hopefully we get enough complains ai I mention the Customer... Read More

I have been a Capital One cstomer for many years, and sadly, because of the changes to the bill pay system I am leaving. You can no lonner see a payment history for a particular biller, nor can you print a list of bills scheduled to be paid. And God help you if you have more than one account with the same vendor; because there is no way to determine which account you paid. If you pay your bills monthly, you can expect to answer at least 3 questions for each payment, then you can expect to receive one email for each bill paid, rather than simply entering the amount, then getting one email listing all of your payments. In addition, there in no indication if your payment is being paid... Read More

Don’t use this bank! I’ve had it for two months and for the second time they have frozen my over $4000 balance “for security reasons”. So I have over $4k that I can’t touch while my bill continue to charge me late fees. I would never, ever use Capital One for banking. Consider yourselves warned.

Up until the rollout of the new online banking system, I have been happy with Capital One. I can't say I have run into any poor customer service - my experience in that regard, has always been positive. However, the new online banking system is making me consider changing banks. The customization of organizing my bills has been removed, the ability to update a scheduled payment - removed, inability to select a biller and see past payments. Aesthetics and user experience/functionality negatively impacted - severely! It looks like a step back - colors removed, the banner at the top of the checking account showing upcoming payments removed. All modern up-to-date functionality -... Read More

If I could give a Zero rating I would!! After restricting my account for a $500 zelle for the 2nd time. I called and asked why they care about a deposit, im the one taking the risk with a friend. With the first one they actually called my friend to make sure they sent me a zelle. Now ive had this account as well as savings, multiple credit cards and car loans in the past. They decided to just close my accounts for no reason other than I receive zelle deposits!! Its crazy and now they are holding my funds for 7-10 business days!! This isnt my main account because they have no branches near me but its just crazy a bank would do this!!

Capital One "CLAIMS" to be the great credit card for "EVERYONE" and will be the best company for "EVERYONE"!!! WRONG ANSWER, Capital One is an ignorant, unfriendly, rude, nasty and shouldn't be allowed to advertise to be a "people friendly" company. We used to think they were a good company, but as of late, they let you know that WE DON'T WANT CUSTOMERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL FAMILY ISSUES. I would tell Capital One to go piss-up a rope. I wouldn't recommend you to a dead horse.

Terrible customer service, even to loyal customers who’ve been with them for years and years.

This account is only AND I MEAN ONLY good for someone who is trying to fix their credit and is willing to pay off the entire balance EVERY MONTH- NO EXEPTIONS. They will instantly ruin your credit if you leave any funds for another month to pay off.. minimum payment? .. don't even consider this as a choice.. after 1 year they took my credit from 680 down to 510 due to paying minimum balances.. this company will never help you do anything .. they do not deserve any interest on your account WHAT SO EVER -- the most take advantage of not financially savvy people there is.. i would rather leave my money with Celsius in the bitcoin Scam.. AT LEAST THEY ARE GETTING PART OF THAT BACK THROUGH... Read More

Capital One is THE WORST BANK I’VE EVER DEALT WITH. For the past 3 months I’ve been trying to get a fraudulent charge reversed from mom’s credit card but they have been completely unhelpful. My mom is 80 years old, disabled, and live in New York. We NEVER did ANY business with Capital One but was forced into this situation when they took over the bank that we dealt with. In the process of sending new credit cards, they screwed up and sent a card with someone else name on it. We called and told them they need to fix the problem. In the meantime, someone got her card and used it. Her credit card was used in California to purchase gift cards. We notified Capital One as soon as we found out... Read More
