Square’s website reflects the credit card products and services they offer: intuitive and user-friendly. As soon as you receive your reader, you can begin taking credit cards immediately. Your first reader is free.

Square’s niche is small business, including restaurants, salons, and other retail establishments for which they have developed well-thought-out specialty applications.  

In addition to low cost-of-entry, when you use Square, you won’t pay many of the fees other companies charge including start-up, monthly, authorization, or cancellation fees. The company’s fee structure for basic transactions is pretty simple: you pay 2.6% plus $.02 for each tapped (mobile payments), dipped (chip cards), or swiped (magstripe cards) payment. This fee is over and above the fee you pay to use your merchant account. If you don’t use the service, you don’t get charged.

Square offers multiple portable reader options. Square also earns industry accolades its full, stationery POS system. These stations manage sales, inventory, invoicing, and customer-loyalty programs while integrating with payroll and other systems you may be using. Square customers can pull a range of useful reports including profit margin and cost of sales analysis. You can also use Square to track employee login and logout, breaks, and overtime for as many employees as you have. With the optional Square payroll service, you can analyze labor costs versus sales, track individual employees’ productivity, and more.

You can connect Square to your existing website or use their free online store builder, which incorporates sales, inventory management, shipping, delivery, local pick-up, and more. Square offers a wide range of graphic design templates and customized choices to give merchants creative and branding flexibility.

Square optional integrated marketing services. For example, Square can build and segment your email list then help you design and execute email marketing campaigns. You can also use Square to post to social media to announce special offers and other up-to-the-minute messaging.
