Aflac Dental Insurance Review
Summary of Aflac's Coverage
Aflac dental insurance offers a choice of three plans that are intended to supplement your primary dental insurance. Aflac can help fill the holes between what your primary insurance pays for covered treatment (normally a percentage of your dental bills) and what you actually owe. You may pay less, compared with primary dental insurance premiums. But even Aflac's own sales representatives recommend you use their insurance for its intended purpose, to supplement your primary coverage.
Pays You Directly
Aflac pays its customers directly for claims (unless otherwise assigned), rather than their dental care providers. Some customers may find this attractive. Being paid directly involves customers submitting claims directly, which many may not be accustomed to doing. But Aflac makes the claims process easy through its website and mobile app.
Freedom to Choose
Unlike some plans that limit you to a network of providers, with Aflac there are no network restrictions, so you can choose to use any dentist you wish for dental care. Aflac policies pay specific benefit amounts for covered treatments/procedures, as opposed to the percentages found in many dental plans.
No Precertification Required
Aflac offers a dental policy that can help with preventative care and major services, with no precertification requirements. If your policy offers a benefit for the treatment, you don’t need Aflac’s permission to receive it.
Ratings*
Aflac receives an A+ rating from both A.M. Best and the Better Business Bureau*. On Trustpilot, Aflac receives a 2.8 out 5 rating, but the rating is based on just a handful of reviews.
Who Should Consider Aflac?
Aflac’s policies may best suit the needs of customers who need help with co-payments or deductibles that are typically associated with primary insurance plans.
