This Electrolux dishwasher's features and performance are well thought-out and superior to many in its class. Its spare design may appeal to people whose kitchens have a minimalist look and feel, but may put off people who seek a warmer, "friendlier" appearance. The Electrolux's warranty provides extended coverage for the electronic control modules, which are often among the parts that are first to fail. However, the warranty excludes coverage for the costs of the specialized labor it takes to install those modules. The warranty is also somewhat unusual in that it is voided once the original purchaser conveys the appliance to another person. This may be a consideration for people who are thinking of selling their homes within the next five years, since they won't be able to use "appliances under warranty" as a selling point. This dishwasher is a good choice for people who appreciate Scandinavian design and want a machine that has a substantial array of contemporary features.

The Electrolux EI24ID81SS has three interior racks, the top-most one of which is suitable for washing flat utensils. That rack is removable for situations when taller items are placed in the upper rack. The upper rack includes stemware holders for six glasses and two individual bottle washer nozzles. Users can delay the start of the wash for up to 24 hours. The machine features a soil sensor that automatically adjusts the wash cycle. There is an "EcoWash" setting that uses less electricity to complete a wash cycle and a "Flash Wash" cycle that takes only 30 minutes. Like all of the dishwashers we review, this unit is Energy Star qualified. Its energy consumption and noise level are substantially similar to those of most of the dishwashers in this class. This bundle of features and performance specifications puts the Electrolux EI24ID81SS in the top half of its peers.

Warranty - 4.5 / 5

The manufacturer's basic one-year warranty is the minimum acceptable in this class of appliance. Its five-year warranty on the control module is welcome on a modern dishwasher since those modules are often the first part to malfunction and are expensive to replace. However, the warranty excludes labor costs for installing replacement modules in years two through five. Some service companies charge a premium for the specialized labor required to replace control modules, so this exclusion could leave consumers with expensive repair bills for replacing parts that are under warranty. There's a lifetime limited warranty on the tub and interior door surface, but it should be noted that these components are among the least likely to fail.

Terrible washing machine!!!. We bought it in September of 2015 after reading excellent reviews. . Maybe we got a lemon but within a month the water flow valve malfunctioned which resulted in the machine flooding our kitchen and the basement beneath it. The only way to turn off the flow of water pouring out of the machine was to turn off the water at its source. Simply turning off the breaker that powered the machine did not work. It was a disaster. Soaked basement insulation, water everywhere in our kitchen, under the cabinets, a total mess.. A valve replacement corrected this awful problem and it was still under warranty (one month old!). We built a new home and did ALL electrolux appliances. The home is only 5 years old and we have replaced the Washer and now the dishwaser. Would never recommend these appliances
