USAA is an fine choice for US service men and women and veterans. The company's considerable experience in working with military families sets it apart from most other companies. Its well-established financial strength suggests that it has been well-managed in its 95 years of existence. Since the company only serves military members, veterans, and their families, however, it cannot be considered an option for the general non-military customer.

I recently made a claim for damage done to my property from a leak from a pipe in my bathroom wall.As this was discovered ,further investigation revealed the growth of mold on walls in the garage storage closets and the wood floor of a closet. My claim was denied because the time limit had expired in which the claim had to be made.I sought help as soon as this leak was visible to me, yet no compassion was shown.I have been a loyal member of U.S.A.A. FOR 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER MADE A CLAIM ON EITHER MY HOMEOWNERS OR CAR INSURANCE.The thanks is a denial, slap in the face . I plan on looking into other options for insurance coverage. No one one tried to listen to me! There is no way that I... Read More

I have been insured with USAA for approx. 3 years and have been very please with their level of customer service. Over these few years I have filed multiple claims with my home and cars due to no fault of my own. I have experienced lightening damage to my house and a tree falling onto the roof. I have a few claims with my automobiles due to uninsured or under insured motorist. USAA did not give me any problem with these claims. They were very responsive to my calls and move the claim swiftly. I have been very pleased with them. The only concern I have is the substantial increase in my policy over these few years. I expect it to increase but not this much. I believe USAA is a great... Read More

I switched to USAA Homeowner's Insurance about 5 years ago because I heard they were a good company. My experience to date does not at all reflect that rating. In fact, I have found USAA Insurance the worst in customer service and ease of dealing with of any insurance carrier that I have used over the past 50 years! Start off with their ridiculous call center. First you get an automated menu that you have to navigate through. Then you finally get an agent. Perhaps 1 of 4 are a knowledgeable and able to help. For instance, with my homeowner's insurance I own two vacant lots in my IRA. The policy states that it covers vacant lots that you own, but since the title is slightly... Read More

I am a disables vet with a Service Animal. My Service Animal was playing with another dog in my back yard over a year ago, at a BBQ. One woman was there and was trying to grab the other dog while the two were playing and my dog hit her forearm with his mouth. It barely woke the skin. We took her to the hospital on Ft Carson, cause we were still in the Army. Well, nothing was filed and it was determined to be an accident. I was honest with USAA and they classified it as a Dog Bite. Now they will not cover me for my primary residence with Home owners Insurance. The sub-affiliate company is telling me i have to sign a liability waiver to exclude my service animal (dog) from the... Read More

I had USAA homeowners insurance and automobile insurance for 5 years. I had never made a claim with USAA homeowners policy. Someone filed a claim with my policy stating my dog bit him. USAA settled the claim after they were informed I did not want to file that claim against my insurance. They paid out $15,000 and then sent a letter cancelling my policy.

I have been a USAA member for 55 years...! I've always had an outstanding relationship with them - until recently. They have slowly evolved from a smaller, more select clientele group with incredibly good service and business practices to an apparent desired position of opening the flood gates and insuring anyone and everyone in order to achieve the highest volume possible. Now, the bean counters have taken over and I'm dumping them over a $200 ridiculous position on a recent claim I submitted. Just unbelievable!! I've paid in tens of thousands of dollars for auto, boat, home, and aircraft insurance for 55 years and now they want to hassle me for a $200 item....after 55 years of... Read More
