LawDepot Pricing

Services - 4.5 / 5

LawDepot's website offers conflicting information regarding pricing. According to their Help Center, those who create legal documents through their service get three licensing options to choose from. Customers who sign up for the One Year Pro get billed annually at a rate of $95.88 or monthly at a rate of $7.99. There is also a free trial that gives users access to all documents for one week with no obligations, yet they must register on the site and cancel before being billed for services at a standard rate of $33 per month. In their Help Center FAQs, the company claims that consumers who don't want a subscription can purchase single documents for anything between $7.50 and $39, depending on the document. However, we found that creating a last will & testament through LawDepot costs $49.95, which is over that price range. Consumers should be mindful of these discrepancies and are adviced to research the payment terms thoroughly before purchasing.

The LawDepot trial membership gives consumers free access to all documents on the site for one week. That license will automatically renew for $33 per month after the trial ends. The company states there are no obligations and customers can cancel any time. However, some consumers have had trouble canceling their membership after the trial period.

LawDepot Company Reputation

Customer Experience - 4.5 / 5

LawDepot is a Better Business Bureau-accredited company with an A+ rating based on mostly negative customer reviews and few complaints. Negative customer feedback for the company seems to center around issues with advertising and sales, yet these are mostly from consumers who didn't read or understand the terms of service. LawDepot does not offer legal services, only legal document preparation. These services come at a price, however, and a good number of customers have found that it's difficult to cancel their subscriptions after enrolling. Nevertheless, the company holds a great 8.8 Trustpilot score based on over 69% positive customer feedback. Consumers on that site find LawDepot to be an effective, user-friendly resource of legal document preparation.

The customer service provided by JULIE was not good. She followed her "script" and interrupted me, as well as was condescending and tried to interject her personal input on how it's my responsibility etc. Unfortunately, I missed the end date of the free trial. I understand this, however it would be a better option for people that are obviously looking to save money to have an option that is a pro-rated cancellation. Gone is the Customer Service that companies need, without customers you will not have a company in the long run. I was not making up excuses or reasons for missing the deadline, I just thought I cancelled it right away as the document I was looking for didn't work. You WILL... Read More

I used their site for a school project, I hit end trial and it did not go through I guess. I didn't realize that I was still getting charged $33 a month for something I never used after that (plus an international charge fee, cause why would they tell you that up front) When I reached out, the live chat woman told me no to a refund for the first month, so I called for a manager. She wrote me off completely and told me she couldn't tell what I did or didn't do with the website, which you can see how people access your site, I know the back end of a website ma'am. Then when I said I hit end free trial, she was like we can't see that, you must've done something wrong. Just very accusative,... Read More

I recently prepared a PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT for my son and his future wife. I paid a one time fee of $39, attached their assets and liabilities and am pleased with the document. I found the cost for LawDepot to be very fair when compared to other companies who specialize in the preparation of legal documents.

The customer service provide by MONIQUE was trash. Monique interrupted me, spoke over me all because I wanted to cancel. She was rude, and didn't know what she was talking about. She made it seem like I was stupid which companies should NOT do! She tried to tell me that I waited too long and must have forgot to cancel, which was CERTAINLY NOT the case, she just wanted to be rude since I was canceling. You WILL get ripped off. Don't waste your time or money trash company and its trash customer service reps like MONIQUE!!!!!
