TotalLegal is mainly a legal services provider, where consumers can subscribe for a monthly or yearly fee and receive free or discounted legal services from attorneys as well as the ability to create documents and store them securely on the cloud. With this subscription, consumers can create a last will and testament for free and download it for home printing, or they can bypass the subscription and purchase the document by itself for $20. The company has glowing reviews on Trustpilot.com, where customers praise how easy and fast it was to use TotalLegal's services.

TotalLegal Service

Pricing - 4.5 / 5

TotalLegal offers a suite of legal products structured around the TotalLegal Plan, which is a subscription that provides free legal services from licensed attorneys as well as the ability to create legal documents for free, including last wills, living wills, powers of attorney, and rental agreements, and access to a secure online document vault. Other services, such as LLC formation and business incorporation services, wherein the company files the documents for you, are available for an additional, yet affordable, fee. The revision of these documents is included in the subscription.

As for the last will and testament, it works like other online will creators. By answering a questionnaire, the consumer can create a customized will tailored for their jurisdiction where they can leave an inheritance to their heirs, create trusts for minor children, specify how they wish their remains to be disposed of, among other specifications.

At the end of the form, the user is asked to select between downloading the will and printing it at home or having it printed and mailed to them. Mailing involves an additional charge, depending on the mail class. Then, the user can select between a monthly subscription and a yearly subscription to the TotalLegal plan. A free, one-week trial, which includes the creation of one legal document, is available, and consumers may cancel their subscription at any time. However, if one week elapses, the credit card entered at checkout will be charged. It's not clear whether the subscription that would be charged is for one month or one year, and the difference in cost is rather significant.
