Aetna Coverage

Level of Coverage - 5 / 5

Medicare Supplement plans are standardized into 10 different policy types, designated by letters from A through N. Aetna offers Plan F, Plan G, and Plan N. These plans offer coverage along with Original Medicare (Parts A and B). Basic benefits include hospitalization, medical expenses, blood, and hospice care. Customers must have in mind that costs associated with additional benefits such as vision and dental care, hearing aids, and private nursing duty, would not be covered under any Medicare Supplement plan.

Plan Types

  • Plan A - It includes hospital copayment costs up to a year after Medicare benefits are exhausted, the first three pints of blood, Part B coinsurance including preventive care services after deductible, and hospice care.
  • Plan B - Offers the same amount of coverage as Plan A, with the addition of a hospital deductible in each benefit period.
  • Plan F - Less expensive than other plans, F covers all the same benefits as C, with the addition of 100% of Part B's excess charges.
  • Plan G - Covers almost every Medicare supplemental insurance benefit, with the exception of Part B's annual deductible.
  • Plan N - Covers hospital copayments, Part B co-insurance except $20 for office visits & $50 for emergency visits, first 3 pints of blood, hospital deductible, SNF, foreign care, all of Part B co-insurance for preventive care, and hospice care.

Aetna Pricing

Services - 5 / 5

When it comes to Medicare Supplement Insurance, customers must understand that their age, exact zip code, and in some cases, their medical condition can either raise or lower the cost of their premiums. For example, Plan F—for a male, non-smoker, just turning 65—might cost $193 in Texas but $229 in California. The Aetna Individual Medicare Supplement Plans are "attained-age rated". This means the original premium will be based on the current age of the customer. Aetna offers features such as a 12-month rate lock (no increases during your first year), 30-day free look period (cancel for any reason during the first 30 days for a full refund) and household discounts.

Aetna Customer Experience

Reputation and Customer Experience - 5 / 5

One of the best things about Aetna's website is its easy-to-use personal interactive tools, where customers can learn about health, fitness, lifestyle, and pregnancy. The company also offers features like online quotes, live chat, 24/7 access to online tools, and accessibility services for people with disabilities who need assistance using the website (or mobile apps). One minor disadvantage might be that Medicare customers are not able to get an online quote but instead need to call or send an email. On the other hand, customers are able to schedule in-home visits in most parts of the country.

I signed up for a Medicare supplemental plan with Aetna in Oct 2019. I was not covered by their plan until Nov 1 2019, however they deducted the first installment on 10-8-2019. They essentially used my money for 23 days with no coverage. If they do this with all their customers, they are basically stealing money from their customers and using it for their own benefit. This is unethical!
