Health Insurance Online - Overview

Health Insurance Online is an online portal designed to help seniors connect with Medicare products. One of the services the company provides is access to Medicare Supplemental Insurance. Medicare Supplemental Insurance, or Medigap, are additional insurance plans that function in tandem with traditional Medicare plans. They cover the "gaps" in Medicare in lieu of a private medical plan. These include costly deductibles, coinsurance, and even care outside the United States.

In order to purchase a Medigap policy you must first have Medicare Part A & B. Policies are also guaranteed renewable, meaning as long as you pay your premium they cannot be cancelled. Health Insurance Online offers a handy interface where customers can first browse available supplemental plans by state. Since Medigap plans are strictly standardized by the federal government, all policies offer the same features regardless of state. But since they are offered by private insurance companies, the only differentiating factor is price. Medicare Supplemental Insurance's online comparison tool is therefore especially helpful as it allows customers to shop different plans and find the best price for essentially the same coverage.

QUALIFICATION

To qualify for Medigap coverage you must be a resident of the state the policy is offered, be 65 years of age or older, or be under 65 with end-stage renal disease or some other disability. If you apply for Medigap when you are first qualified, i.e. within 6 months of your 65th birthday, you cannot be turned down because of a pre-existing condition. Outside of this time period it is up to the provider.

Summary - Health Insurance Online

Health Insurance Online's portal is a great tool for finding Medicare products in your area. This is especially because the company's list of partners is large. As Medigap plans only differ by price and availability, it is of paramount importance to the consumer to have as wide a sampling as possible of providers.
