Like all VA loans, mortgages offered through Veterans United are insured by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Because of this, the company is able to offer loans with significantly more favorable conditions to service members and veterans than usually available to the civilian population, like flexible qualification guidelines, lower rates, lower monthly payments, no down payments, and no private mortgage insurance.

As the country's No. 1 Lender for VA purchase loans, Veterans United has closed over 100,000 home loans for military service members and their families.

Veterans United Qualification Requirements

Qualification Requirements - 4.5 / 5

VA loans are a $0 down payment mortgage option available to Veterans, Service Members and select military spouses, are issued by private lenders, and are guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:
  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or
  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or
  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or
  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

  • Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

If your credit is less than stellar, it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

If you have additional questions about whether you qualify, you can contact Veterans United's Home Loan Specialists, who are available 24/7.

This company is HORRIBLE! They have incompetent loan officers and are very disorganized. They have completely ruined what should be one of the most enjoyable moments in our adult lives - becoming homeowners! If I could give them 0 stars - I would!

This was my first time using Veterans United and the VA Home Loan process. My loan team was outstanding! They provided me with the information and guidance that was needed during the process. The rates that are available for home loans are much lower than can be obtained by other financial institutions which in the long run saves you money. Jeremy and Taylor are very knowledgeable and made the process very easy and smooth. They were both helpful and informative. I like and or demand to have communication when I am completing a transaction like this, my loan team was Always there to answer any questions that I had, no matter how little. They both took the time to completely answer all of... Read More

Wow Paul, this is such an awesome review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and the ALL STAR shout out! We have learned a thing or two in our 15+ years of VA loan experience and one of the most important lessons was how crucial those open lines of communication are regardless of this being your 1st or 10th home loan. Making sure that the nuts and bolts of the loan process are easy as well is also so important. Providing you with online access to your file information was something we found to truly enhance the loan process for so many of our military borrowers who may not have the same ease of access that non military borrowers do. We couldn't be happier for you and your new journey and we will always be here for you wherever your path takes you!! Enjoy the ride!! CONGRATS!!! Claire S., Client Advocate

As a surviving spouse of a VietNam vet, the ability to use the VA Home Loan benefit was incremental in my ability to purchase a home. Veterans United provided compassion, understanding and unequivocal knowledge of the VA benefits/requirements that are needed to have a smooth process. Purchasing a home is stressful enough, much less doing this as a widow. Thanks to Veterans United, I became a home owner on July 23, 2019! Thank you!

You're right: Compassion, knowledge, and understanding are all integral to making the loan process a smooth one! It's so wonderful to know that that was your experience, Cindy. I know there can be a lot of moving pieces in the home buying process, and I can't even imagine what it was like for you to navigate that without your partner. Thanks so much for trusting us with this important process, and congratulations on your new home.

Rett & Caytlyn were phenomenal in the entire process! Our home buying experience started out as a pre qualification check just to see if we were ready to build our dream home. Rett helped us navigate the entire process and made such a large purchase effortless. We worked with our team for almost six months to get this home built and we couldn't be happier. If we ever purchase another home we will 100% use Veterans United (Rett & Caytlyn) to purchase. I can't say enough good about this team, the overall process, and how happy we are to finally be in our new build. Thank you!

I have had the best service from start to finish. Everyone from Veterans United Home have been attentive, thorough in what had to be done to reach my goal of buying a new home. Chris has been perfect throughout my process. If I had any questions, he would answer me right away or get back to me quickly. He was very kind and thoughtful throughout, always making sure I was on track and getting what I needed step by step. My realtor that Veterans United provided me was great too. Sue showed me all the places I wanted to see, even on late nights and weekends. She knew what I was looking for and got me into those homes. I was under contract before I knew it. Everyone was... If they had the ability to help make things easier on me, they would take care of certain tasks for me if they could. Would 10/10 recommend

From start to finish Veterans United let me know what to expect with each step and what the next steps remaining were. It’s a discouraging experience and at times stressful but Brian Flanigan and his team helped us get through it. Now we have our home in Marshall Wisconsin and its a great feeling.
