JustAnswer Online Doctors Review
Breadth of Services
JustAnswer is a popular service that provides a simple way to ask questions and receive answers from experts in many fields, from auto mechanics to medical professionals. You can start a conversation online or by using the JustAnswer mobile app. The company differs from other telehealth service organizations in that its experts don't actually provide medical treatment. They do not diagnose illnesses, schedule tests, or prescribe medication, for example. However, the site may be useful for people who may simply want to learn more about a medical condition, get a sense of how to proceed with actual medical treatment, or get advice on how to deal with a minor injury or common symptoms.
Professional Credentials and Licensures
When you ask a question on JustAnswer, you may be connected with medical professionals with varying levels of education and experience. While the site does promote that you can connect with board-certified physicians, we reviewed the actual user questions archived on the site and found that many were answered by experts with fewer credentials and licensures, for example people who have a master's degree or even just a bachelor degree. We wondered if it was possible to request a practitioner with specific credentials, but could not find a way to do so. However, you can read how other customers rated the practitioners available when you ask your question (several are online at all times) before deciding who to consult.
Price
JustAnswer could do a much better job at explaining its pricing structure. The company does sell subscriptions to its service, but neither the price nor what's included in the subscription is listed on the website. The website also mentions per-answer fees and extra fees for some services, but again there is no specific information about these costs. The company only presents you with fees when you ask a question and enter your credit card information. At that point, you are asked to sign up for $1 trial membership. No regular subscription or per question fees are quoted at that time. That makes judging the value of the service difficult. Moreover, providing a credit card without understanding how it will be charged may make some users uncomfortable and we certainly understand that concern.
Customer Experience
JustAnswer provides access to medical personnel 24/7 and advertises that users can receive responses to their questions in just minutes. Fast answers can help customers decide "what to do next" when they're faced with a health concern and may, for example, help prevent expensive but unnecessary midnight trips to the ER. The site also provides a library containing a few dozen articles on medical conditions and other topics of interest. Users can search the site for answers to previously-asked questions, as well. You can also research ratings on individual answer providers before choosing one to engage with.
JustAnswer receives quite high marks from various consumer review sites. The company A+ rated by the BBB and earns 4.7 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot. The JustAnswer app receives 4.2 out of 5 stars from Android users and 4 out of 5 stars from iOS users at the Apple App Store. Apart from the lack of pricing transparency, we still felt as if the site could provide more information on what JustAnswer can and can't do for you. Many people seeking full telemedicine services may be confused about what to expect from JustAnswer.com.
