SteadyMD Primary Care provides non-emergency acute care and primary care services to its members. The company treats chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and allergies. The company doesn't specifically list the non-emergency illnesses and accidents it can virtually treat, but since SteadyMD offers primary care services, the list of non-emergency illnesses and accidents covered under your monthly subscription, in theory, is pretty vast.

SteadyMD providers can order lab tests and core tests are ordered when you begin using the company's primary care services. Practitioners can also prescribe medications and write refills for any medicines you may need more of or take on a regular basis.

SteadyMD is unique in its focus on matching patients with doctors who may mirror their beliefs about healthcare and their lifestyle choices. The company can pair you with doctors who take a traditional approach to healthcare, as well as those who practice holistic, functional, and integrative care. SteadyMD distinguishes itself by putting a great deal of emphasis on doctor/patient relationships.

However, SteadyMD's broad range of services does not include mental healthcare. If you are interested in starting a course of online therapy or feel you need to see a psychiatrist, SteadyMD will not be able to assist you directly. The company may be able to refer you to a mental healthcare provider through one of its partner platforms.

Provider Credentials and Licensures

All SteadyMD doctors are board-certified general practitioners. We took a look at SteadyMD's provider profiles and most are certified in family medicine. If your condition suggests you may need the services of a specialist, SteadyMD will consult with one, and if necessary, they will go as far as to refer you to one, make you the appointment, and call or text you with the appointment information and address of the specialist.

Price

SteadyMD Primary Care is a membership-based organization. Rather than purchase services a la carte, patients pay a monthly subscription fee. Individual plans are available for $99 per month and family plans start at $179 per month. The larger your family, the more you'll pay for a subscription. SteadyMD may be a particularly economical choice for patients who expect to see their doctors frequently, for example, those who suffer from chronic conditions.

Customer Experience

SteadyMD's website is pretty clear about the services the company offers (with the exception of mental healthcare), its philosophy of care, subscription fees, and more. One feature of the service that stands out is patients' ability to select a physician immediately upon registering. You will fill out a questionnaire that asks some basic health and lifestyle questions. Then SteadyMD returns a list of doctors whose skills and approach complement your needs. You can read each provider's profile, which includes any board certifications he or she might hold, and see a calendar of available appointments before making a choice. All patients must have an initial screening visit, which lasts about an hour, so appointments are not immediately available, but rather, scheduled a few days out. This initial screening is required by law, as all companies similar to SteadyMD cannot treat a patient unless a patient/doctor relationship is first established. 

After your initial comprehensive visit, you can access medical care 24/7 with SteadyMD. Appointments are generally available within 24 hours. Some telehealth services promise immediate access and, based on customer reviews, may not deliver. As its name suggests, SteadyMD patients always see the same doctor—a service not all telehealth providers provide—and that may account for longer wait times. It's a trade-off. We appreciate that SteadyMD sets realistic expectations for its members. That being said, if you are a non-menber who is in pain or otherwise truly needs urgent care, you may be able to see one of the practitioners on call more quickly upon request. For members, if you are in fact in pain or need urgent action, SteadyMD's team of doctors and medical assistants are available and do respond quickly.

You can access SteadyMD Primary Care online, by phone, or via mobile app. Providers are available by text message 24/7 at no cost beyond your monthly subscription fee and, as a SteadyMD member, you can communicate with your doctor an unlimited amount of times via video, phone, or text.
