Faithful Counseling is a subsidiary of the online counseling service, BetterHelp. It specializes in mental health counseling from a religious perspective, specifically for the Christian faith. While the company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, its licensed therapists live all over the country to help deliver counseling whenever you need it.

Contact Methods

You must complete a questionnaire when you sign up that Faithful Counseling uses to match you with a therapist who has the appropriate expertise to assist you. You will be matched with a therapist within 24 hours of signing up for the site. After you've been matched, you can reach out to your therapist via text message at any time. You can also schedule live phone or video sessions through your online account if you prefer to chat with your therapist this way. You're free to switch up your contact methods as often as you'd like.

Cost

A Faithful Counseling membership costs $65 per week. This amount is billed monthly, and it includes all of the sessions you have with your counselor during this time. It'll still run you $60 per month, but some traditional therapists may charge $200 or more per session, so Faithful Counseling could turn out to be significantly cheaper for you over the long run if you speak to your therapist often. You aren't required to sign up for several months at a time and you're free to cancel your subscription at any time if you feel Faithful Counseling isn't working for you or that you no longer require counseling.

Therapist Qualifications

BetterHelp -- Faithful Counseling's parent company -- requires all therapists operating on its platform to be licensed in their state of residence and have at least three years of hands-on experience providing counseling to adults. In addition, they must pass a rigorous case study exam and a video interview set by BetterHelp. This is to ensure that BetterHelp, and by extension Faithful Counseling, delivers the highest quality counseling to all of its members. In order to work for Faithful Counseling, all therapists must additionally self-identify as a practicing Christian and verify that their beliefs align with the site's Statement of Faith.

When you sign up for the website, you'll complete a questionnaire and Faithful Counseling uses your responses to pair you with the best therapist for your needs. In most cases, the matches are successful but if you're unsatisfied with your therapist for any reason, you can reach out to Faithful Counseling and it will pair you with a new one.

Ease of Use

Signing up for Faithful Counseling only takes a few minutes. First, you complete the questionnaire, answering questions about yourself and the reasons you're seeking counseling. Then, you verify your personal information and email address. Faithful Counseling will pair you with an appropriate therapist and from there, you can reach out to him or her at any time through your online Faithful Counseling account.

There's also a mobile app for Android and Apple devices so you can stay connected to your therapist everywhere you go. You'll be able to view your message history and see your counselor's calendar so you can find a time that works for both of you for your next live session. You can also manage your account and adjust your settings as needed.

Don’t use this service! I paid for counseling for my daughter and used my debit card. She stopped counseling months ago bit they are still billing my bank card. I have tried repeatedly to cancel the service but they are still billing me because they don’t recognize my email address . There is no customer service number so I can contact anyone. They have cost me over a thousand dollars.
