Teen Counseling Online Therapy Review
Contact Methods
Once you've signed up for the site and been paired with a licensed therapist, you can speak with him or her at any time via the messaging system in your online account. You can also schedule live chat, video or phone sessions if you prefer to communicate with your therapist this way. You're not limited to a single type of session. You can switch up your methods of communication as often as you'd like.
Cost
Teen Counseling users pay a $65 weekly membership fee, which is billed monthly. There are no per-session fees and you can speak to your therapist as often as you'd like while you're a member. You're also free to cancel the service at any time if you aren't happy with it or you feel you no longer need therapy.
Some traditional therapists can charge $200 or more per session and this gets expensive quickly. If you're on a budget, Teen Counseling is a nice alternative or supplement to traditional counseling, especially if you're using the service several times per month.
Therapist Qualifications
All Teen Counseling therapists are licensed therapists in their state of residence and have a Master's or Doctorate degree in their field. They also have at least three years of counseling experience. Teen Counseling requires all interested therapists to pass a rigorous exam before being allowed to offer their services through the platform to ensure that all users have the best possible experience.
Once you and your parent complete the questionnaire about yourself and why you're seeking counseling, Teen Counseling will pair you with an appropriate therapist based on your responses. If for any reason you're unhappy with your therapist, just reach out to Teen Counseling and they will set you up with a new one.
Ease of Use
Setting up your Teen Counseling account requires jumping through a few hoops. Parents must first create an account to verify that your parent is aware of and accepts your use of the platform. Once their account is created, they can send you an invite code where you can join. Alternatively, teens can sign up for TeenCounseling and send their parents an invite in order to gain consent. You can view and manage your account information, review your message history and therapist credentials and schedule new sessions through your online account or through the company's mobile apps.
In most cases, the information you share with your therapist won't be shared with your parent. Your parent also won't be able to view your message history with your therapist. However, there are a few instances where therapists are legally required to contact your parents. They may inform your parents if you express a desire to hurt yourself or someone else. They may also alert the authorities if you indicate that you are being neglected or abused or that you know of a child or elder who is being neglected or abused.
