Keeper Security is a password manager and digital vault that helps individuals and businesses protect themselves against cyber theft.

Started in 2009, the Chicago-based password management company can secure passwords iand passkeys n their digital vault, safeguard sensitive documents and protect financial information all in one platform.

In our increasingly digital world, where everything from our favorite family photos to credit cards and medical records can be stored online and walk around with us in our pockets, becoming a victim of cyber theft or a data breach can be a nightmare.

For those who are looking to protect sensitive business and customer information, or keep their passwords organized in one place, Keeper’s platform can be tailored to enterprises, large to small business, families, and individuals.

With Keeper, the user’s data is encrypted and decrypted at the device level – not Keeper’s servers or cloud – which provides an important layer of security. Only the user has access to their data, in fact, Keeper’s own employees can’t even access it.

The software uses AES-256 encryption, generally considered one of the most secure ciphers, and supports multi-factor authentication for added security.

The Keeper DNA can also use personal devices, like a smartwatch, to confirm a user’s identity.

Aside from password management and vault protection on unlimited devices, users can also enjoy unlimited cloud back up, unlimited password and passkey storage, unlimited record sharing, and biometric login with a paid subscription.

GETTING SET UP WITH KEEPER

Getting started with Keeper is as simple as signing up online.

Keeper walks users through a step-by-step setup, helping users to import their passwords and install browser extensions that can autofill passwords on websites and programs.

Users can also opt to test out the service with a free trial before committing to an annual plan.

Keeper’s user-friendly interface works across every mobile device and computer that can sync instantly, which can be a relief for individuals who want to make sure all their devices are covered.  It also features an offline mode, ensuring the solution is readily available, even if the internet is not.

Users can choose how they’d like to log in with a master password, a biometric fingerprint or facial recognition. Keeper vaults can also be secured with a variety of MFA options.

For businesses, Keeper provides each employee with a private vault for storing and managing their passwords, as well as their credentials, files, and private client data.

Another perk is that Keeper can also support reporting and industry compliance, such as with HIPAA.

Business customers also have access to 24/7 customer support and exclusive training from support specialists.

SERVICES AND FEATURES

Beyond being a password manager, Keeper offers several services and features that can not only heighten security but improve employee productivity, cut helpdesk costs, and meet compliance standards.

Additionally, the company offers security add-ons that can further enhance cybersecurity and data protection.

PASSWORD GENERATOR

Keeper can be used to create strong or random passwords and passphrases, and measures a password’s strength and vulnerability with its security audit function.

Keeper also enables users to autofill their login details into apps and websites without having to enter a single password by using their KeeperFill™ technology, if logged in with SSO. Users without SSO connection would still need to at least enter their master password.

For employees, this increases workplace productivity by cutting out the time and frustration of remembering or resetting passwords.

DIGITAL VAULT

Digital records such as photos, videos, and private files can be securely shared with other Keeper users as well as backed up in the vault.

It’s worth noting that Keeper is a “zero-knowledge” security provider, meaning that because the encryption and decryption are done at the device level, the user has full control over their data.

Additionally, users are prompted to make a master password that only they will have access to.

Keeper is SOC-2 Certified, which is a criterion set by the American Institute of CPAs for managing and securing customer data.

The company is also FedRAMP and StateRAMP Authorized for use by the federal government and state agencies.

PERSONAL AND PAYMENT DATA

When it comes to identity and payment information, the application can scan and upload debit and credit card information into the Keeper vault.

This feature lets users autofill payments, identity, and billing information when they make purchases, which can safeguard them against identity theft or fraud

Plus, customers can securely store personal information, such as a driver’s license or passport number, sensitive files, documents, or videos.

The even can save and restore previous versions of records, or securely share them with friends, family members or colleagues.

TWO-STEP VERIFICATION

Keeper is integrated with an easy two-step verification process that offers an extra layer of security when users log into a website or application.

The vault will store and autofill Time-based One Time Password (TOTP) codes so the user does not need to use a secondary authenticator app.

OTHER SERVICES

Keeper offers secure add-ons, such as BreachWatch™, which monitors the dark web for breached accounts then alerts the user, and private, hyper-secure messaging with KeeperChat™.

Other hardware-based security key devices like YubiKey can also be used with Keeper to work as a multi-factor authentication without having to manually enter access codes.

The password manager supports up to five emergency contacts to grant vault access to in case of an emergency or death.

When a specified waiting time has passed, the emergency contact will gain access to a user’s Keeper vault.

Users may also isolate their data for geographic protection and compliance by selecting the region to store their encrypted data.

REPUTATION

Reputation is an essential factor when deciding where to place your trust in a company – particularly when it comes to storing sensitive information.

The company has a good standing reputation with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with an “A-” rating.

Keeper was voted “Editor’s Choice” on Google Play and by PCMag.

The company also works with industry leaders, such as Google, Samsung, Amazon, and HTC to enhance security on mobile devices, tablets, and smartwatches.

Keeper Password Manager has 275,000 5-star ratings on the app stores.

I love it! It keeps my information secure and is easy to use. I won’t use any other app. The only thing I miss is being able to backup on my own.

Keeper works just okay. The folder structure is a bit difficult to navigate and manage. Not intuitive. And I was irked that they made a big deal out of re-branding their logo without making the slightest improvement in the product. The 'stay unprotected' notifications are annoying and condescending. The only reason I stay is because it would be a pain to switch. This application seems to be leaning toward an enterprise multi-platform solution. That's not me. I'm just a single user on a single device. If you want to do something for users, update the interface to the current century.

I have been using the Keeper Password Manager for a few years. It works well and is easy to use. I think they should have an online "training area" where one could learn anything new that is modified or improved. I probably do not know all the features of Keeper.

I’ve been using Keeper for many years. Absolutely the greatest password organizer ever. Plus it lets me know when I use the same password for other sites. Everything I regard as important to me and my family are in my keeper.
