RoboForm is a password manager developed by Siber Systems, a privately-held company with headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. RoboForm is the company’s first consumer product launched in 1999 now with millions of active users worldwide. The software offers features such as password generator, one click logins, form filling, password audit, AES-256 bit encryption, emergency access, multi-platform support, secure sharing, and professional 24/7 support.

Services and Features

RoboForm password manager helps users remember passwords by storing account information and making these readily available with the use of a single master password. Its bookmark style logins instantly login users to their favorite websites with a single tap or click.

The password can be used on different platforms including Mac, Windows, Android, iOS, Linux, and Chrome OS. It provides secure access to a user’s passwords with one subscription that can be used across multiple devices.

All data stored are encrypted using AES-256 bit encryption along with PBKDF2 SHA256. RoboForm is also integrated with a form filler that automatically fills long forms when users shop online.

A random password generator is included in RoboForm’s features. It creates strong and unique passwords for each user account. The software keeps folders and has a search functionality that organizes thousands of passwords every user stores.

Users can also store software license keys or Wi-Fi passwords keeping these as encrypted text notes.

I bought two RoboForm licenses Many years ago and it has been getting increasingly difficult to use each year. Now it refuses to recognize my licenses and I get a sync warning every day or so. The license I bought was supposed to be good forever but I guess they figure they can make it so difficult to use that I'll renew to a yearly subscription. Nothing works like it used to and I no longer trust them. I will have to look for a company more reputable that honors their original promises.

I have also been using RoboForm for many years and telling everyone I know about it. In the old days, RoboForm was easy to use and indeed had one-click logins. But, over the years RoboForm has made it more difficult to use. Now when I try to login to a website RoboForm may or may not fill forms with either my username or password, but not both. Then I have to use their editor to copy and paste whichever form they did not fill. Not as much of a problem as it is annoying and time consuming. Another item which I once thought was great was their Password Generator, which comes up with great passwords. Unfortunately, I changed my mind after going to my bank or the phone store and being... Hello Harley, Thank you for your review. From time to time sites change the structure of their page after RoboForm has saved them. All that is needed in these cases is to press Alt + Click to force a re-save and allow RoboForm to recapture the new form. With regards to accessing hard to remember passwords stored in RoboForm when you are not at your computer, we do have smartphone apps for iOS/Android and also provide web access. As far as the Master Password, this has been required for many years and is an essential security feature of RoboForm. This is the key to encrypting your data. In order to ensure that nobody but you--not even us-- can access your data, we do not know your Master Password and make this very clear at the outset. If you are concerned about accessing your account, we do offer an Emergency Access feature where you can appoint a trusted contact to do so however. More information on this can be found here: https://help.roboform.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005825828-How-to-set-up-Emergency-Access Should have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time.

For many years I have paid for and used RoboForm and told everyone I know about it. Now everything has changed and it is completely useless to me. I would put a password in for a particular site and have it saved. Then when I went to the site, putting the password in was a simple click. NO MORE!! I have 4 small print pages of websites and passwords and can use none of them. Several things were changed, but I still could find my password for a particular site because it was alphanumeric. Now it is just a series of dots or asterisks. When I tried to cut and paste the new dots/asterisks which were "protecting" my password, I got the message back that I could not cut and paste to move... Read More

Marketing Manager of RoboForm Password Manager
Hi Marcie, We appreciate your feedback! We're sorry that your experience with RoboForm has been less than satisfactory. RoboForm is a product that prides itself in our easy 1-click logins. If you are having issues logging in with a single click, I would urge you to contact our wonderful support team who would be more than glad to help you resolve your issue: https://www.roboform.com/support. With regard to the series of dots/asterisks that are shown in place of your passwords, this was done to protect yourself from individuals looking over your shoulder possibly in a public setting. All you have to do is simply click on the eyeball icon on the right of your password to reveal your password and copy/paste as you wish. Additionally, your logins are all displayed alphanumerically on our browser extension, you may also choose to organize/view them in any way via the RoboForm Start Page. Please let us know if you have any other issues! We definitely want your user experience to be as smooth as possible.

I have used Roboform since it first arrived. On the whole it's excellent. Saving passwords and individual websites is very easy. You can then rename, clone them or delete them. Syncing between my desktop, laptop and iPhone is very simple. Downside. 1. I have one credit card website where it simply will not work. technical support was no help at all. 2. In previous versions the system created individual files stored on C Drive. This was great because you could sort them by date or any other way to find an old login. Now they are all in one file and you can do nothing. 3. It does not work well on my iPhone.

Marketing Manager of RoboForm Password Manager
Thanks for reaching out, John. We greatly appreciate your loyalty to RoboForm and we want to assist with the problems you mentioned. Regarding the credit card issue, we apologize for any lack of communication on our end. If you have an existing ticket, if you can please reply to it, we'll personally ensure it's addressed immediately. If you have yet to submit a ticket, if you could please do so that would be a huge help. As for the user data storage scheme in V8, this change was implemented in order to increase privacy, security, and synchronization time. While sorting is no longer feasible in the same way, you can still modify the folder by selecting the RoboForm Icon>> Options>> Account & Data>> Advanced>> Select Data Folder. Lastly, regarding your iPhone experience, we would love to hear a bit more about the issues you're having. We're extremely focused on improving our mobile experience and any specific feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated. If you can please submit this feedback in the same ticket you use(d) for your credit card issue, that would be perfect. Thank you again.
