I have tried to contact somebody from Great Lakes for 2 foggy windows and one that has failed completely(has mold on inside. The warranty is one thing another to contact them.

my windows were installed in 1993 - 29 year old windows. Out of 11 windows 4 needed glass replaced 17 years later due to broken seal , & 5 windows locks are very hard to open/close. Total of 5 windows no issues at all. Bottom line 5 out of 11 no problems after 29 years. Wish I could find new locks for my old windows.

Lifetime warranty from Great Lakes Window should be interpreted to mean that you will spend a lifetime trying to get them to repair or replace a window.

I would not recommend this company to manufacture your windows. The first attempt to make my windows, they made the window sashes too small for my windows which meant there was small gap between the sash and the frame. That allowed for warm air to escape my house thus driving up my energy bill. The second attempt at making my windows, one of my windows was assembled with the grids turned sideways inside the window and some of the screens were damaged. The people who actually assemble the windows should be drug tested or have their mind examined, because they really screwed. It is apparent that they do not have a quality control person to examine the windows before they get shipped out.... Read More

We purchased a full set of replacement windows and sliding door in 2004 for our home residence. Within the first couple of years, we were replacing the window because of seal failure. The seals would loosen and mold would grow in between the window glass to the point you cannot see out of the window. We bought them from Somerville Aluminum who installed them. Every time they came to replace the window, they would charge $200-300. This continues to happen. I do not recommend Great Lakes Windows - stay away. The lifetime warranty means nothing. Somerville Aluminum sells these windows so they can continue to make money off replacing these windows each year. Let the buyer beware. They should... Read More

In 2009 we spent close to $9500.00 to replace our windows with your series 5000 HP Max glass triple pane low E argon product. This is to let you know we are very UN-happy with your product. Since the very first week after installation we have had to order replacement glass because of seal failure. We have had to replace at least one picture or vent section a year, some years two. This year we have three on order at this time. One picture panel has been replaced twice. The company we purchased them from has been great to this point in trying to help us out, but it’s a hassle for them as well as me. At this point in time all the labor to replace has been on me and a son-in-law, I don’t... Read More

PlyGem/Great Lake window review. Trying to keep this short. It has been almost a year of grief so the story is long. Worst customer service experience in my life to date. Four glass inserts were installed. Four times the pictures windows (costing over 1K each) have scratches between the panes and dirt and dust. Four days off of work as they will not do weekends no matter what. We spend hours cleaning windows full of grease and grim as they do not clean them as the glue must set for 48 hours. Months of phone calls that do not get returned. Their solution is only to keep reinstalling the windows which involves more time off work and hours cleaning. They will not compensate for... These windows are garbage! I am now trying to get some of them replaced for the 3rd time in 15 years. The frames warp over time and I have 4 out of 13 that have broken seals on them and are fogging with something growing between the panes. The vinyl is too weak to stand up over time and warps with the change in outside temps. Have many of the windows that cannot open even 1/2 way anymore. Watch out for the "warranty", it may cover the parts but if the company that did the installation goes away you are stuck paying for the replacement of all the defective parts. I'd give them a 0 if I could.

1/17/18 UPDATE: Terry the Repair Guy came out and fixed the window at no-charge. Great Lakes Window called and apologized, said they appreciated the comment and took care of the situation which made me feel much better. I'm increasing their review from 1 to 3. I still had to wait too long to get the window repaired but they followed up and did the right thing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bought a window from Great Lakes Home Renovations 7 years ago. Recently I haven't been able to close the window properly and there’s a big gap so I called for service repair. After the “5-7 days it would take to get a call back” I never heard from anyone so I tried contacting them multiple times leaving many... Read More
