HughesNet does provide a generous amount of data across its plans. The company practices a Fair Access Policy that regulates the amount of data usage for each customer. It limits the amount of data uploaded or downloaded with a one-month billing period. Customers who exceed this limit can experience a reduction in internet speed.

*** Speeds are not guaranteed. Monthly Data is the sum of the Anytime and Bonus Zone. Actual speeds during the Bonus Zone period will likely be lower than speeds indicated.

Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. Only reason I stayed was that there were no alternatives in the area. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the bill and just charge me the difference to the cancel date. This is a horrible company to deal with all the way around. Connection is very slow, data limits are very low for the cost. extra charges on the bill, and unreasonable to prorate the final bill.

SERVICE WAS AWFUL CALLED AND COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES AS I COULD NOT EVEN RUN ONE DEVICE AT A TIME. SAID THEY COULDNT DO ANYTHING WHEN I CANCELLED THEY STATED I SIGNED A 2YR CONTRACT BUT CAN NOT SEND THE ME A COPY OF SAID CONTRACT AND ON TOP OF IT THEY WANT ME TO GO ON THE ROOF TO UNINSTALL THEIR DEVICE OR BE CHARGED ANOTHER $300.

Be aware of cancelation fees of more than $600 even if your internet doesn't work. If you cancel after 30 days they will charge you $600+ ! HORRIBLE & UNETHICAL!

I don't understand how people can give this company a good review, unless they just got service installed and are just happy to have something called internet. The service this company provides is horrible. You can't watch a movie without it buffering incessantly, and that's on a clear day. Don't even bother on a bad day. When I signed on, the rep offered me a 1-year contract or a 2-year contract. I said I wanted a 1-year contract. When I canceled this service early due to another provider offering better service at a much more reasonable cost, HughesNet charged me for 17 months left in my contract and denied that they even had a 1-year plan. And I'm not even going to get started on their... Read More

0 Star. Horrible company. My modem went out. I paid for the service contract. I will get a newer model modem. Several times (at least 5 ) i requested no upgrade in service. Customer service agreed every time 'no upgrade in service, just a new modem'. The notice of 'upgrade in service/higher cost' was emailed. However, I had no service (no modem) so I did not see the email till after I received the new modem. Of course I was upgraded in service and I can't go back because they only support G5 now, When I called that my new G5 service is as slow , slow as the previous service 'too bad'. During the next call I was told to receive G5 service I also have to upgrade/change the''gateway '... Read More

The worst internet since dialup. I have 20 g of data, it is gone in 3 days of the month. I just checked the SPEED when they lock it down. It was .25 mb. not 25 mb. download. It was 0 upload. Don't get it You will regret it.

Song and a dance. Have had satellite Internet before and Hughesnet is the worst. Moved in to new home had Hughesnet installed by the time I got network up and running had a hard time just pulling up email tried call Hughesnet tech support would be placed on hold and would be hung up on after hold about 5 to 10 minutes. Found out I was one day past my 30 day trial. So I’m stuck with this crap for two years. BEWARE

Ever since getting this service it has been painfully slow. The only thing it is good for is surfing the net. Certainly not anything close to clicking and the page opens immediately, but it takes a few seconds. If you want to watch a video on youtube, you will have to wait at least a min on short videos, anything longer than 5 minutes it will be a long time. It will constantly buffer making the user experience frustrating. Other times it will just freeze up and there's nothing you can do but wait. Basically, the main thing that is different from the old dial up is that you don't get the noise when connecting and pictures download faster. Other than that, you are back in the 80's.... It does not work!!!! If I could have rated it zero, I would have. The sales department represented that it would work in my area, but it did not. Not even a little bit. Could not even open simple web pages. Certainly no TV or complex internet processes. I could not do my work from home as they represented I could. When I called to cancel the service, they required the cancellation fee even though it did not work as represented. Fortunately, they did not have my current credit card on file. I would not give them a card to draw on. I will not pay this fee given that it did not work as represented for me. I am fortunate enough to be in a position to not care about the credit... When I called them to ask about their internet service they told me multiple times that it's unlimited at 40mbs per second, I told the person that I need it to be really good for my zoom meeting and she promised that it will be running fast throughout the whole month for 49.99$ a month. I got the service, that ended up being 60$ a month and two weeks later it was extremely slow. I called the support and they told me that my plan was only 20GB of fast internet, which means that it only lasts for a few days and then it's horrible. That means that nothing loads, and everything takes forever to open. I wish they told me the truth in the beginning and didn't lie, but oh well. Couldn't expect... Read More

This company will straight out lie to your face. Avoid at all costs. This is the biggest waste of cash for two years. It is literally good for sending an email. If you can find any kind of cell phone service that can do that, just stick with that. The customer service is terrible. Look for other options and do your own research about what their service is capable of, because they lie and lock you into a 2 year contract. Its very frustrating.

In Your Dreams! Lousiest Wifi company ever ! Dial up was faster ! Cancelling and sucking up 200 early termination charge after a yr of WIFI MISERY! Have not read one good review from actual users not biased company talking head and actually believe a class action lawsuit should be investigated ! truly horrendous that a company that advertises High Speed should'nt be held accountable for delivering a product of use to there consumers ! Specially during pandemic when all the children rely on sufficient wifi to learn ! Hughesnet could give a Damn ! SAD!!!!!!

DON'T DO IT! Sloooow speeds, terrible customer service, and inflexible contract. No service guarantees, but huge penalties if you don't like the service. Once installed, you're trapped under a two year contract unless you want to pay $800 to get out of it. Oh, and if it rains, you're dead in the water. Run, don't walk, AWAY from this company.

RIPPPPPP OOOFFFFFFF, this service sucks, reminds me of dial up of decades past, absolute no streaming at all, self test says this is fast, actual use absolutely sucks, extremely disappointed, and the attitude of the company... you have a 2 year contract..... feeling trapped.

I was misled by a sales rep into thinking that Hughesnet would work with my company's systems so I could work from home. Then, when it didn't work as advertised, they would not let me out of my 2 year contact but charged me $400.

After installing a huge satellite on our roof and poking holes in the side house - the satellite service NEVER WORKED. I spent so many hours online dealing with customer service and was upgraded to engineering. They could not get it to work so after paying for 5 months of service I cancelled. They came and picked up the satellite off our house, left the outside wiring and we were told we would get a credit for the equipment once the radio transmitter was returned by us. Their return packing never arrived so we paid out of pocket to return it to their service center. Never got the credit, which was over $400. After an infuriating phone call with them today I was told that no - we would not... Read More

We were with HughsNet for over a year, and from day one we had problems. There was constant buffering and the clarity was atrocious. We called them a couple of times a month to try to resolve the problem. First they told us it was because of COVID 19 and there were just too many people on the internet, then they said we had just used too much data. We explained that even on the day we received our new allotment nothing changed. They changed settings several times without success. We had technicians on the phone with us several times and they had us make changes without any improvement. They finally sent out a technician that changed out the modem and the head on the dish and it... Read More

I was forced to Hughes Internet service through a bundle package with AT&T. I regret I didn't pay more attention to the Hughes contract portion. As a result, when I moved and requested cancellation, I was told by the agent that I would be charged a $205 cancellation fee. In addition, the expectation to return the equipment required going onto the roof to retrieve the radio transmitter. Funny how they installed the equipment for free when I was a new customer. Going onto a roof is dangerous enough and that they would require this or charge me an additional $200 is abominable. The agent told me when I was cancelling, that if I cancelled on the requested date, my cancellation fee would... Read More

This is the biggest high cost LACK of service I have ever paid for in my lifetime! Constant buffering... even in the middle of the night and the day after we pay our bill & HughesNet reflects 100% of 50 GB are available. Attempts to call service result in long wait times and foreigners that are not inderstandableunderstandable. Unfortunately, no other services available in our rural area. Horrible company... basically thieves!

My rating is -3. I've been a customer for 3 years and it has never worked good. If 32kbps is fast enough then its for you. Daily average for one year with 2 speed testers is 1.89mb download and 0.59 upload, ping is off the charts and never more than 21% stability (usually 0%). I have no other choice where I live. Pretty sure original satellite is failing and new one never delivered. Only when you are on the phone with them does it go up in speed only to drop 10 min after call. If you have another choice choose wisely.

Absolutely the WORST service I've ever had. Couldn't just cancel after 2.5 years, had to jump through hoops. Then got collection notice from law firm for 340$ AFTER equipment was returned. Pitiful pitiful service and lousy excuses. Highly UNRECOMMENDED! Wouldn't leave ANY stars but have to to leave comment....

The system was installed and never worked. The installer said i could use either 2g or 5g and 2was intermittent and 5 never worked. The installer was in such a hurry to go to the next job he had us do a trouble call. That call lasted for hours with no success. This went on for days with calls dropped and when you called back you had to start over because it was a different person who spoke very poor english. Finally they put someone on the phone who said they could come and fix it for 125.00 service call. It was just installed and not working yet. Why should I pay. Thats when i was transferred back into their hold system to wait for a new person. After hours of trying password s over... Read More
