Founded in 2014, iDNA (which stands for I Do Need Answers) is an at-home testing service that supplies customers with lab-quality test kits for sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STDs and STIs). Customers can take control of their sexual health with comprehensive STD screenings which are discreetly delivered by mail. The tests are processed in certified laboratories that produce quick and accurate results, which customers can monitor and track online or via the company’s mobile app. All results are completely confidential and, should any questions arise, iDNA offers testing guidance and direct customer support.

Testing Options

iDNA offers several options for at-home STD and STI testing. The four main options are:

  • The cBOX Common Test - this kit tests for the seven most common STDs and STIs (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, syphilis, herpes 2, HIV 1 and 2, and hepatitis c) which are also the most often recommended by doctors. The test consists of blood drop and urine samples.
  • The cBOX Plus Complete Test - the most comprehensive kit to monitor your sexual health. It includes the seven tests found in the Common bundle, as well as three additional ones: HPV, mycoplasma, and ureaplasma. This bundle is the most cost-effective way iDNA offers to comprehensively test for STDs. It also consists of blood and urine samples.
  • The bBOX - this kit includes blood tests for the four most common STDs and STIs. By way of a finger prick, you can test for syphilis, herpes 2, hepatitis c, and HIV 1 and 2.
  • The pBOX -  this bundle contains urine tests for trichomoniasis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.

Aside from the four main bundle kits, iDNA offers the iBOX, which are individual disease tests that the customer can mix and match. It’s also useful for retesting or for follow-ups. Individual tests are available for herpes 2, chlamydia + gonorrhea, HIV I/II, syphilis, trichomoniasis, hepatitis c, mycoplasma + ureaplasma, and HPV.

Each kit comes with simple, gender-based instructions to help both male and female patients complete the testing process and a lab verification card that is sent with your specimens to help identify your samples.

Depending on the tests ordered, the tests come with a blood collection kit (for hepatitis c, syphilis, HIV, and herpes), vaginal swab (for HPV), a urine collection container (used for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, mycoplasma, and ureaplasma, as well as HPV for males), a transport tube for swabs and containers, biohazard bags to seal the collected samples, and a return label and box for easy shipping to the lab.

Accreditations

The tests administered by iDNA are FDA-approved, meet national testing standards, and have the same diagnostic capability and accuracy as those administered in health clinics and laboratories.

iDNA’s labs are HIPAA-compliant and are validated following state and federal guidelines, which include being CLIA-certified and accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

User Experience/ Customer Support

iDNA offers direct customer support in three ways: customers can choose to email them directly and receive a response within 24 hours, text them to receive a response within 12-24 hours, or call them during weekdays at regular business hours.

Pricing

Pricing is straightforward and transparent, with no hidden fees or costs.

The cBOX common test is $198, the comprehensive cBOX Plus complete test is $298, the bBOX blood test is $158, and the pBOX urine test is $108.

The iBOX price will depend on which individual tests you choose. Herpes 2, HIV I/II, syphilis, hepatitis c, and trichomoniasis are $78 each one. Chlamydia + gonorrhea, mycoplasma + ureaplasma, and HPV are $88 each.

iDNA users who receive a positive result from one of its tests are eligible for a free, one-time retest for that specific disease. Customers need only pay the shipping and handling fee.

iDNA also offers a satisfaction guarantee that states that if you are not completely satisfied with the experience, you can request a full refund (minus $30 for shipping and handling) within 30 days of purchase. The offer is not valid if you have already received your test results.
