Crystal Whites Teeth Whitening Kit Review

Ingredients

Crystal Whites offers teeth whitening strips, a tooth whitening powder and teeth whitening gel with trays that hold the gel against your teeth. Surprisingly, none of these products use hydrogen or carbamide peroxide. The tooth whitening powder uses activated charcoal, which has not proven to be as effective as hydrogen or carbamide peroxide at removing deep stains from teeth.

The Advanced Formula Teeth Whitening Kit and the Advanced Whitening Strips both employ a filmo-crystallized calcium and a relatively new whitening technology known as P.A.P., which allegedly breaks down stains without being as hard on the teeth as peroxide whitening products.

There isn't a lot of research yet backing up the effectiveness of these ingredients, and while they're probably not harmful, you may prefer to stick to the American Dental Association (ADA) approved hydrogen and carbamide peroxide products if you want the best results.

Effectiveness

It's difficult to assess the effectiveness of the Crystal Whites products because there are few reviews of them online except for on the company's website. These reviews are positive, but should be taken with a grain of salt because they may not tell you the full story. According to the few reviews we were able to find, users claim the products are effective and they appreciate that the whitening strips stay in place instead of sliding around your mouth like some other brands.

The Advanced Teeth Whitening Kit contains a one-size-fits-all tray, which is not unusual among home teeth whitening kits, but this may not deliver as good of results as a custom tray that hugs your teeth closely. The kit also includes an LED light system that allegedly speeds up the results, but the jury's out on whether or not these lights actually help.

Crystal Whites products have not earned the American Dental Association Seal of Approval, but this is not surprising given that it's not an American company. The product does not appear to have any comparable seals of approval, but this is not unusual. Few teeth whitening companies are willing or able to pay for all of the testing that goes into earning one of these seals.

Ease of Use

All of Crystal Whites' teeth whitening products are simple to use and only require the user to wear them for a few minutes each day. The whitening strips are designed to be worn up to 30 minutes per day and can be worn daily if you prefer. The gel whitening kit is meant to be worn for 20 minutes at a time and can be worn up to five days in a row, though the manufacturer cautions you against using it more often than this. The tooth whitening powder is meant to be brushed onto your teeth and rinsed off.

The manufacturer and customer reviews say nothing about tooth or gum sensitivity after using the product, but it's likely that this could be a side effect as it's common with other types of teeth whitening products. If you experience sensitivity while using this product, decrease the frequency that you use the teeth whitening product.

Price

The teeth whitening strips are available in two-, four- and six-week supplies. You'll get a better deal if you purchase a larger box, so consider going this route if you'd like to whiten your teeth by several shades. The gel whitening system contains six tubes of gel in addition to the tray, but the manufacturer doesn't indicate how long this will last. It also doesn't list the size of the tooth whitening powder jar, so it's difficult to assess how long these products will last you or how they compare to similar products on the market.
