Founded in 2002, Veterans United is a full-service lender that specializes in VA loans for qualifying veterans, military members and their spouses.

Based in Columbia, Missouri, the organization carries an unparalleled reputation for customer satisfaction – Veterans United has a 97% customer recommendation rating.

Like all VA loans, mortgages offered through Veterans United are insured by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Because of this, the company is able to offer loans with significantly more favorable conditions to service members and veterans than usually available to the civilian population.

These conditions include more flexible qualification guidelines, lower rates, lower monthly payments, no down payments, and no private mortgage insurance.

Veterans United has closed over 700,000 home loans for military service members and their families, but what really sets the company apart is their involvement in the military community.

The company is advised by a board of former senior military personnel representing every service branch whose mission is to educate veterans as to the benefits of VA loan programs and home ownership in general.

Also, Veterans United offers a totally free and no-obligation credit-building program, where veterans and military families have access to trained and dedicated consultants who offer advice and strategies for improving credit.

What’s more, Veterans United has unmatched VA loan expertise and is the country’s No. 1 lender for VA purchase loans.

Services and Features

For borrowers seeking VA loans, Veterans United offers VA Purchase Loans, VA Cash-Out Refinance Loans, and VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loans – often called a Streamline Refinance.

To get the ball rolling, veterans and service members can avail themselves of a host of online calculators and educational tools to assess their own financial situation, learn the VA loan process, and get help with finding the right home given all this information.

Qualification

Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

If your credit is less than stellar it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:

  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or

  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or

  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or

  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

VA Loans with Veterans United

The company offers a trove of online guidance and education. So it’s not just a matter of do you qualify or not. Veterans United will work with you from the very beginning of the process and guide you along the path of finding the right home, getting your credit in shape, and selecting the best possible VA loan for your situation. This was my first home loan. My team at veterans United made sure I was informed every step of the way and was always there to answer questions I had. I don't think I could have done this without them.

My first call to Veterans United was too see if I qualified for a home loan, and in no time I had my answer. Within the next few days I had a realtor, attorney, and loan officer. They were very knowledgeable about the home buying process and was always available whenever I had questions. I recommend them 100% to any veteran looking to purchase a home. Thank you Allison, Matricia, and Stuart, you guys are amazing!!!!

We found veterans united by chance but now see that they were sent by God to help veterans through the tedious process of home buying. We definitely would work with Brandon and his team again.

When I first called Veterans United, I was not actually expecting that it would lead to me living in my own house. I really just wanted to know how much more I need to do in order to consider buying a home. But the folks over at Veterans United told me that they would find a way to get that loan, then Mike Mange spoke to me and said he had a preapproval and connected me with a great real estate agent, Karyn, and soon we were putting offers and now I'm sleeping in my house with my loved ones. I want to thank Veterans United for what they do and the effort they make to allow those who served find a permanent home. Thank you.

Paid off loan with this company. All was fine until we sold the house and now it is hard to get our escrow checks that are to me. I've called many times but once you pay off the loan they kick you off the website and so it is difficult to get any answers. Get a lot of bull, typical answer the check is in the mail. What a joke. They claimed the first check was returned to them. As we moved and sold the house. So provided a correct address in Nov and was told a new check would be issued. Which they claimed was issued on Dec 13th. Today is Jan 16th 2019 and still no check. But every call we make to the company it is either on its way or they have no idea when it was mailed. Cannot... Wasted our time! We were upfront about what our intentions were: placing a new manufactured home on our property. Kyle was very friendly as he took all of our sensitive financial information, conducted a deep credit check and obtained a copy of my husband's DD214, only to be informed the next day that they do not lend for "mobile" homes. Our original mortgage, based on the purchase of a manufactured home on this same property 20 years ago, is a VA loan. Our financials are excellent, and we were very clear about our plans, so we can only assume they were phishing for information. Happy Veteran's Day to my hubby. Sad!
