Aquasana is a water filter manufacturer based in Austin, Texas. It sells whole-house, under-sink, countertop, shower, and bottle filters, as well as replacement filters for these products. Several of its products are NSF-Certified.

Cost

Aquasana's water filters range in price from around $20 for a simple water bottle with a built-in filter to around $800 for a whole-house system that can handle up to 1 million gallons of water. These are more affordable than some of its competitors, but they can get more expensive if you decide to add a salt-free water conditioner, UV filter, or pro-grade installation kit. Its countertop filters are reasonably priced and will run you about $100 to $130, depending on the model you choose. Aquasana conveniently lists the cost per gallon for each of its countertop filters, so it's easy to compare them and see which offers the best value.

You can purchase Aquasana water filters on the company's website, which accepts Amazon Pay, PayPal, and credit cards. Since some of Aquasana's high-end filters can be pricey, customers may find that using credit cards and paying over time is a prudent way to manage these purchases.

Of course, the upfront expense of a water filtration system is only part of the cost. You also have to pay for replacement filters periodically. You can purchase these directly through Aquasana's website. Prices range from about $20 to nearly $700 for some whole-home replacement filters, which may sound like a lot, but it's not that unreasonable when you figure that each $700 filter lasts you about 1 million gallons of water.

You may purchase a single filter or filter pack if that's all you want or you can save 15% and get free shipping by enrolling in the Water for Life program, which will automatically deliver replacement filters to your home on a regular schedule. Like similar programs available with other manufacturers, there's no contract to enroll in Water for Life. The program also includes an extended warranty on your filter, which is something you don't see with some of Aquasana's competitors.

Effectiveness

Aquasana's drinking water filters have been tested and certified to remove contaminants like lead, mercury, pesticides, VOCs, and chlorine, as well as other things that may negatively affect the taste or odor of your water. It uses an innovative Claryum filtration technology to remove potentially harmful elements from your water while retaining beneficial minerals that are naturally occurring, like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

The same goes for its whole-house filters, which filter all the water you use for cooking, drinking, bathing, and running household appliances. Water pressure is a big concern with these types of filters and water pressure can drop if the whole-house filter is not able to keep up with as much water as you're using. But this shouldn't be a concern with Aquasana's filters because they can process up to 8 gallons per minute. If you use a lot of water and aren't sure if this is enough, you can reach out to Aquasana and one of its representatives can help you design a suitable solution.

Durability

Most of Aquasana's water filters are backed by warranties, which vary depending on the model you choose. Countertop filters are backed by one-year warranties while whole-house systems have 10-year warranties. All of its products are also backed by a 90-day money-back guarantee, so if you're not satisfied with your Aquasana water filter for any reason or it breaks down, you can request a full refund during this time.

Ease of Installation, Use, and Maintenance

Installing most Aquasana water filters is pretty easy, and some of the countertop models don't require installation at all. You just pour water in them, let the filter do its work, and then pour yourself a glass when you want some. For models that do require installation, you can figure out how to do so by reading in the instructions in your user manual. Most of them aren't difficult to follow, even if you're not that handy. If you run into any problems, you can always contact Aquasana and a representative can help walk you through the process.

We have been using Aquasana filters for also 20 years. Our city water has too much chlorine and rust in it. Not to mention small particles of debrie from the piping. First we had the undercounter kitchen filter. Then we got the wholehouse filter system. We are totally satisfied, and would recommend it to everyone.

I have the well water whole house system which is supposed to provide UV bulb protection from bacteria. Unfortunately the UV bulb has to sit inside of a glass tube, which apparently is very fragile because it has broken twice within a month on its own during normal everyday use. When the glass tube breaks, the UV bulb is rendered ineffective subjecting you to the bacteria that is present in well water. After unreasonably long hold times, customer support will send out the UV bulb/glass tube replacement, but charge the customer for the shipping costs, and then take their time in processing it for shipping. So due to their defective product, you get to bathe in bacteria for 2 weeks (1... Read More
