Policy Options
eWed Insurance Services provides wedding couples with the opportunity to purchase Liability & and Cancellation Insurance to protect what is typically the largest purchase they have ever made in their lives. Their plans can be customized and tailored to meet each couple’s needs. eWed will cover up to three (3) days of coverage, including the rehearsal dinner, wedding day and post-wedding brunch.
eWed’s loss of deposit coverage is also up to four times more than what other wedding insurance companies offer. Couples can purchase policies either individually or as a bundled purchase, with a starting price at the low rate of $75. There are 11 levels of coverage to choose from, so a couple can find one that covers their wedding budget, and they have the ability to increase their coverage if they go over their initial budget.
Wedding Postponement and Cancellation Insurance
eWed’s wedding postponement and cancellation policy will cover non-refundable deposits and non-reimbursable expenses couples may incur due to unforeseen circumstances, such as:
- Extreme weather, including hurricanes and blizzards
- Accidents or illness of a family member
- Unexpected military deployment of the bride and/or groom
- Lost deposits due to a wedding venue or wedding vendor goes out of business
- Lost or damaged wedding-day attire, including bridal gown, groom’s tuxedo and jewelry
- Lost or damaged photography or video files
- Replacement or repairing of wedding gifts lost, damaged or stolen the week of the wedding from the couple’s home, car or wedding venue
- Unexpected expenses due to a last minute change or mishap
- Professional medical assistance needed due to wedding-planning stress
Unlike other companies, eWed Insurance does not have a deductible on cancellation & postponement claims.
Wedding Liability Insurance
eWed’s liability policies will cover couples from the moment set-up begins at their first event – rehearsal dinner or wedding ceremony – through the breakdown of the final celebration – the wedding reception, after party or farewell brunch. Liability policies can be purchased up to the day before the wedding for only $119 – the least expensive liability policy available to wedding couples. Wedding liability insurance coverage includes:
- Up to $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 total for bodily injury and property damage liability
- Host liquor liability insurance
- Issuance of a “Certificate of Additional Insurance” to meet the wedding venue’s insurance requirements, at no additional cost
- Deposit limit on a $25,000 policy is $5,000 Other companies have, on average, a cap of 8% of the policy amount for Loss of Deposit Coverage. eWed Insurance's Loss of Deposit coverage is 20% of the policy amount.
- eWed has no sub-limit on Extra Expense – what a couple would have to spend to avoid a cancellation or postponement. Competitors limit this to a quarter of the policy amount.
- Damage to Rented Premises: eWed’s coverage is for the full $1m policy amount. Competitors are typically capped at $100k or charge more for additional coverage.
Customer Service
eWed Insurance is the only wedding insurance company designed for the way Millennials shop today – online and on their phones using fully responsive CSS media queries. It is also the only company offering 24/7 concierge customer service and support for policyholders. For this reason, the company has a 9.9/10 customer satisfaction rating from Verified Reviews.
eWed Insurance’s Personalized Application Program offers venues the ability to send a custom link to their wedding couples and post the link on their website that will open a personalized insurance application containing the venue’s name on the top of the application and all the venue’s information (name, contact, tel, address) pre-filled in for the couple. No more having a customer type in the wrong name for a venue requiring reissuance of a COI.
Cost
Liability coverage is $119. Third-party bodily injury liability claims don't have a deductible, but property damage claims include a $1,000 deductible. Cancellation coverage varies depending on how much protection you want. It ranges from $75 for the $5,000 coverage level to $544 for the $100,000 coverage level. You can choose the one that's right for you based on the approximate cost of your wedding, which you should be able to determine by totaling up the costs of your vendors. There are 11 options, so it's easy to find one that provides just the coverage you need without charging you for extra you won't use. eWed Insurance doesn't have a deductible for their cancellation coverage.
Its rates are lower than those of many other wedding insurers and few companies give you so many choices for cancellation coverage. There isn't a Change of Heart coverage option in case one of the two individuals decides they no longer wish to get married, but this is a rare coverage and one that hopefully most couples don't need anyway.
eWed’s Distinguishing Factors
- eWed is the only company offering vendor bankruptcy protection that includes protection for Covid related vendor bankruptcies. All other companies exclude any losses related to Covid.
- eWed is one of only two companies offering cancelation coverage and they are 20% less expensive than the other company with greater coverage.
- In response to couples hosting smaller wedding, eWed launched a Micro Wedding program with cancellation insurance starting at only $75 for $5,000 in coverage.
- eWed, while excluding Covid and pandemics, does not have an “infectious disease” exclusion, since that would exclude coverage for common illnesses like the flu, pneumonia or food poising due to salmonella or E. Coli.
- Ability to name up to 4 venues as “Additional Insureds”, others only offer the ability to list between 1 and 3 venues.
- Some companies charge more if the event goes past 2am. Not eWed.
- eWed does not distinguish between weddings being held in a venue (hotel, banqueting facility, etc.) vs. a private home. Other companies charge more for weddings at a private home or exclude private home coverage completely.
