Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch Coverage

Coverage - 5 / 5

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Benefit Limits

Benefit Limits - 5 / 5

This can be advantageous if you research the types and costs of conditions your particular breed is likely to face, and combine it with the cost of treatment considering your area.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 5 / 5

Like all the leading pet insurance policies today, Fetch will pay a predetermined percentage of your actual veterinarian bill after you have met your deductible.

The reimbursement rates you can choose from are 70%, 80%, and 90%.

Deductibles - 5 / 5

Cat owners can select a deductible of $250, $300, or $400, while dog owners can select a deductible of $300, $500, or $700.

If you choose a higher end deductible, it is going to translate into lower monthly premiums. Fetch operates on an annual deductible, which is ideal as you will only have to meet the one deductible regardless of incidences.

Pricing: How much does Fetch cost?

Cost - 3 / 5

Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

It is very unfortunate that I didn't do my research better, and was mislead by their online ad via AARP and the person I spoke with on the phone when applying for and buying insurance for my dog. The man who sold me the insurance did NOT make it clear that it was a PER injury or illness deductible PER year, just gave me the choices of plans, and deductibles. He lead me to believe it was per year, not for EVERYTHING. My dog has had two paw infections due to foxtails, but because they were a month apart, and the last time, the vet was able to actually remove the foxtail - they each have a two hundred dollar deductible. My dog was lethargic, not eating or drinking - and apparently ate... Read More

I purchased insurance on a whim for my 2 year old rescue. Turns out mutts aren't always healthy. He was diagnosed with Cushings disease four years later and this was revised to a pituitary macroadenoma. This was a large brain tumor. Petplan has paid all of my claims with a minimal of wait time. There phone app makes submitting a claim simple. My dog underwent three weeks of radiation and is on the mend. I would have had serious doubts and guilt by not treating this wonderful seven year old dog. Petplan made his treatment possible and my premium went up on the anniversary date solely based on his age and not prior claims. I recommend this company to everyone.

This plan is no deal. I have never heard of having to pay a co-payment on top of a deductible, but on this plan you do. Isn't that what a deductible is, nothing but a co-payment? So if you picked the 80:20, you pay 20% on top of your deductible, making it bigger than they advertise. Additionally, I found out the hard way, the deductible is PER INCIDENT, not per year. Stupid, I'm out.

I am a very satisfied customer of Petplan. I currently have 2 German Shepherds each of which has or has had medical issues, some short term and some that have become chronic. My oldest girl (6years) has just had surgery for a torn left ACL, Petplan covered 80% of expenses of diagnostic xrays, consultation with an orthopedic surgeon, surgery, and post surgical xrays. This same girl has a chronic eye condition and is followed by a Veterinary Ophthalmologist and her frequent office visits have been covered by Petplan and this has been treatment and exams since she was 6 months old (all caused by a bacteria from a tick bite). Petplan will contact the client if there is any information that... Read More

All of the recent one star reviews are accurate! Find another company for your insurance needs. I've used PetPlan for four years and with each progressive year came a $100 increase in yearly premiums - for the same coverage. This fifth year, because of PetPlan changing underwriters, my yearly premium is now doubling with much less coverage and an out of pocket deductible increase of 125% per claim. No thank you, I'll look elsewhere.

These people LOWERED my coverage from a $200 deductible to a $400 deductible and RAISED my premium $120 a year. What a scam.

Amazing company. I don't think I could have afforded my dog's chemo treatments without gopetplan. I'm a huge fan. Thank you for your help and care ... (they called me to see how Gus was doing.).

I will never be without pet insurance. I do not want my ability to pay to be a factor in my dog's care. We have been insured through Petplan since Nick was a puppy. They have paid many claims over the years, and they pay what they say they will, and quickly. I highly recommend PetPlan.

If you are thinking of getting pet insurance for your pet, beware!!!! I have paid Pet Plan for the last 10 years since my dog Dusty was one year old. My premiums have gone up from the high $30's to $70 per month. I have never had a claim! Now that my Dusty is 11 years old, Pet Plan have cheerfully informed me by letter that they have changed underwriters and if I wish to continue with the same coverage my monthly payment will go up to $134.38 per month!!!! almost double. I think it is shamful and I feel very frustrated.
