Aetna is one of the SLEAZIEST companies I’ve ever dealt with. When I was signing up for insurance, I looked at the options, and they all had different plans to reimburse people for fitness plans. The Aetna option offered reimbursement for a bunch of things like sneakers, which were prominently advertised, so I chose them. AS SOON AS THE PLAN STARTED, THEY REMOVED THAT OPTION. Obviously, I could win in court if I wanted to go through the hassle, but I don’t. They should go to JAIL. Scumbags. By phone, they will then tell you that they have a “private list” of things that are approved. They do NOT publish it online. They will paper mail it to you in 2 weeks, but won’t email... Read More

Aetena killed my father, They bounced him around from hospital to nursiuing homes back and forth when we thought we were going to lose him he seemd to come back but for a short while he was himself. This Inssurance FUCKED WITH HIS LIFE! they kicked him out of the hospital into a nursing home he couldn't walk anymore so he had to go my paramedic or other teansportation means. He had to go back to the hospital for an infection and anemonia, then back to the nursing home nursing home didnt take great care of him but the other phome they sent him to didnt do shit for him at all! I could tell he wasn't himself anymore ultimatley he couldn't breathe without oxygen or a machine after... Read More

In 2018 I underwent Genetic Testing because I have a family history full of cancer. I tested positive for the BRCA2 gene. In early 2019 I underwent a Hysterectomy...no issues. But in June of 2020 I had a medically necessary double Mastectomy with Reconstruction. I was assured by all three of my doctors...Dr King who provided the diagnosis, Dr Archer who performed the mastectomy, and Dr. O'Neil who performed the reconstruction...that because of the BRCA2 gene that reconstruction is covered by insurance. My decision to go ahead and have reconstruction performed was solely based on the fact that it would be covered by insurance. My insurer is Aetna. The doctors received all the necessary... They are not paying claims on "covered" preventative services, even after supposedly reviewing the claim. It appears to me that what they really cover is as little as possible. I have found they have several loop holes and rules that are not explained up front. Some providers are not accepting Aetna insurance, telling me that Aetna does not pay them agreed amounts. This company really is very bad.

I have paid my premium each month since subscribing for aetnacvs health insurance in december 2022. In april i began getting past due notices. I went to my bank and printed statements showing that my payments had been deposited by aetna. I mailed these statements with a letter describing my issues. Aetna gave mo response. I continued making payments and have not receiived any billing notices till today (7-14-2023) when i was notified that my coverage was cancelled on 4-30-2023. I called customer service representative was very hard to understand and kept reciting the same policy over and over. Would not transfer me to a manager or accounting. What do i do?

Aetna is slow to approve / respond to my doctors referrals & requests for MRI’s and the like…Aetna is riddled with hoops to jump through. They force you to follow their maze of bureaucracy. They are inflexible. Every time I need anything other than checkup appointments its like playing a game of whack-a-mole and building a ship in a bottle through a knothole at the same time. Too much friction and rigidity in all their processes. Their prescription rules, processes are miserable. I have a very unpredictable intense travel element to my job. My doctor has decided I need 6 month of prescriptions at a time due to travel. Aetna wont do it, or I have to make phone calls and get... Read More

Good luck getting a claim paid if you submit it yourself. Their support line will drop it into the vortex of lost claims, never received claims, and "you'll need to resubmit" claims. They used to be a good company. AVOID IF YOU HAVE BETTER OPTIONS

I've been trying for a month to find an in network mental health provider. Everyone listed on Aetnas website that I have contacted does not accept Aetna. I've called "member services" several times and talked to people in the Philippines who promised to send me a list of options and then they sent screenshots of Aetnas website. There is no way to email aetna and clicking on "contact us" on their website sends you to an error page. I'm a poor person so I'm used to having terrible health insurance but this is by far the worst I've ever had. They don't cover anything and you don't even have a way to contact anyone other than the folks at the call center reading from a script.

I have a PPO plan through my company, and I broke my foot. The urgent care facility has tried three different orthoepic offices and they were told they do not except Aetna. All I can say is sounds and looks like Aetna is more worried about their share holds then the people and companies that pay into them.

Heed my warning! Stay away from this company! I became permanently disabled and this company refuses to pay out what I am owed. You can’t speak to a live person. Instead I have been bounced around by an automated system and the customer services line is disconnected. Now I have to go they my lawyer. I hope a court summons will make them do what they were supposed to do 4 years ago. You read that right, this has been a 4 year struggle! Here is am with severely damaged nerves all over my entire body and missing my right hand and I still have yet to be paid on my claim. Stay away from Aetna!!!!

They have the worst customer service they sent me to an oncology surgeon and then denied the claim. I have called for 2 and a half months to get this straightened out they said they would have an answer for me in 48 hour I filed a complaint was supposedly escalated 3 times and never once have they called me even after they said 'they would call at 2pm today 8/1/22 no call nothing. So here I get to sit with a tumor in my breast can't have it removed because the doctor that is in network and the one they give as the first choice is not covered. It's lies why do we even pay for. The worst insurance if I could give them zero stars that's what they deserve

I had a mammogram they do not cover it because I got a 700 dollar bill. That's preventive health care or one would think. It's 80.00 to go to the eye doctor and you can go get glasses 2 pair and a free exam for 80.00.

Awful! First off, had the Wrong Name on my information so that should have been the first sign! they will charge you for ANYTHING they can & will get away with like X-Rays aren't covered! I was told that a Gynecologists are Specialist and so women will be charged pretty full charges for those visits, God forbid we have something going on with our woman area. Only Pediatrics, Family Practice & General medicine providers are the only ones that are pretty much covered by the insurance, anyone else is fair game & they can charge you full price! If you have other options for insurance go with them. I DO NOT RECOMMOMEND AETNA, NOT FOR MEDICAL OR DENTAL AS DENATL IS JUST AS BAD!!!!

Worst insurance I have ever had. They are constantly looking for reasons not to pay for things and I always get bills in addition to copays. I also stay in network and most of my stuff is preventative. I have had to call and argue with them several times and am over them. I will be switching to my husband's insurance asap. And I have the more expensive plan too.

Aetna are a horrible company, they denied my MRI, which I qualify for, I saw mt doc on 12/20/21 for sciatic pain and given muscle relaxers to use with Ibuprofen, pain got worse and I saw him at his urgent care on 12/22/21 and given mythyprednisolone pack and Percocet and MRI ordered. Then I saw his ARNP at his urgent care on 12/27/21 when I had numbness in parts of leg, foot and toes. I then saw my doctor on 1/10 and he ordered MRI again, it was denied, I saw my doc again on 1/31/22, still have numbness in parts of leg, foot and toes, and get sciatic pain on and off in both legs now. Aetna feels this does not qualify for MRI, hell, you can google numbness in legs and feet and it all... Read More

Worst Insurance we have ever had through our entire 33 years of marriage. They denied an MRI for my hip, took months to get one. They denied two different doctor’s requests for my son’s MRI of his shoulder. We couldn’t wait any longer, we needed answers for his shoulder pain, so we had to pay for the MRI out of pocket to get his MRI done. We paid $670.00 right before Christmas during inflation time and during pandemic, Aetna didn’t care, If you have a choice, stay away from this insurance,

Very poor customer service. Representatives are nice but seem to have no idea or authority to resolve a problem. They seem to say whatever they believe, even if it is incorrect, in order to get the customer to end the conversation. I spoke to seven different reps this week and each of them gave me a different explanation and way to proceed. The issue is on their end, not mine, so I cannot resolve it. However, it is causing serious problems for me. They promised two return calls, within 48 hours, regarding medication and filing a grievance. The calls were never returned.

Just wanted to let someone know that I have been treated with absolute disrespect from Aetna. I'm a pretty normal dude, and I submitted documents to them for reimbursement MULTIPLE TIMES (at least 3 per year) and have not been reimbursed. I go down a rabbit hole of emails and they continue to get more and more convoluted - then by the end they ask me to submit the same form I submitted in the very beginning. Currently, I'm at the stage of receiving radio silence. I will have to resort to calling - but wait times have exceeded 1.5 hours every time I've called. Horrible customer service is an understatement.

Aetna outsourced customer service to India. The people are so nice and want to help but do not have the resources to solve problems. I have spent hours with the customer service representatives in India and they work so hard to provide answers. Their provider list is out of date and we cannot find a provider for diabetic shoes. 2021 Aetna Medicare Advantage is the worst company I have been associated with.

Aetna is the worst insurance I have ever had. They say they cover prenatal 100%, but since I have a high risk pregnancy, they are not. Finally found that out from my doctor after calling Aetna every month for 5 months and not only not being told that, but having to be on the phone with their awful customer service at least 40 min a call and once for over 2 hours. Right now, I am working on something they are refusing to cover that they initially said they would with other another provider too. Unfortunately, this is what is offered through an employer, so we don't have options. What the heck are we paying premiums for? Crappy high deductible insurance that doesn't seem to cover much... Aetna....Worst insurance in USA!: So confuse, all refers are denied. Very difficult to call offices. You get from CVS the over the counter stuff that neither the CVS workers want to buy, terrible every thing. If you get Aetna with Chen Clinic as your health provider you are going to be in hell (el infierno) both are an evil combination, Chen doctors are fine, they do their best and cure you, but the administrative process from Chen Clinic headquarter are going to make you sick back again . I will comply with the Social Security, Insurance Commission, Better Business Buro, and the Attorney General, in fact I maybe will record all the terrible bureaucracy about this mediocre... Unlike most of the reviews I have had a terrible experience with Aetna health care. I went in for a preventative mammogram which was to be 100% covered per the Aetna representative I spoke with. I called in advance and the representative called the location I was going to and then confirmed with me that the center was in network. They did mention that depending on which radiologist reviewed the results that they may or may not be in network but that I would not have to cover this as it was out of my control. I received a $408 bill. I spent over 30 mins on the phone with yet another representative to try and get this resolved. This is far too much hassle and time spent on a 100%... Read More

I was recently scheduled to have cervical spine surgery since the disc in my spine are starting to press on my nerves. I've been on pain medicine for years and have been back and forth to the doctors for years. I have done everything that my doctor asked me to do and finally did physical therapy in which the next step would be surgery. I was scheduled for surgery and had made arrangements with my job and people to help me out during my recovery, I even did my pre op and paid my doctor for his portion of the surgery, however the day before my surgery the insurance denied my claim (the insurance knew about the surgery for three weeks). It's dangerous for me to drive because I have limited... Read More
