Branch Insurance is part of a growing number of insuretech companies that have sprung up in the past five years. Branch operates digitally to deliver homeowners, renters, automobile coverage, and more, while also offering live phone sales and support those who prefer the help of a licensed agent. Consumers can see and buy policies online in just minutes; they can start online and complete their purchase over the phone, or they can call 833-4BRANCH (833-427-2624) to work with a licensed agent from start to finish. Consumers have embraced insuretech solutions and Branch offers a flexible and convenient insurance-buying experience.

Shopping online for a Branch homeowners insurance policy is simple. The company offers a comprehensive explanation of homeowners insurance when you start the shopping process. Ourbranch.com uses artificial intelligence to gather information on your property (and, it appears, any previous policies that protected the property) to make an initial recommendation on policy limits. If you own a car, your recommendation and quote will initially reflect a scenario where you bundle your home and auto policies. But you can customize your policy by selecting different policy limits and choosing your deductible to receive multiple quotes. You can then purchase your policy online. Branch also offers a program called “Stress Free Switch,” where consumers can ask Branch to handle cancelling their old insurance policies for them.

Customer Experience

Customer Service - 4.5 / 5

Branch Insurance stands out for its reputation among consumers. The company earns an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Only three Branch reviews have been filed with the BBB—all 5-star— but the company is distinguished by what it doesn't have: hundreds of complaints. Insurance companies often frustrate or downright anger policyholders and most insurance companies get skewered on consumer review sites. Not Branch. The company also earns 4.8 stars (out of 5) on Trustpilot and 4.9 stars on Google Verified Reviews.

Branch Coverage

Coverage Options - 3 / 5

According to the Branch website, all Branch Insurance homeowners policies include coverage for your dwelling, other structures on your property, and personal property; personal liability coverage; guest medical protection; and coverage for living expenses you may incur if you're forced to leave your home for an extended period (such as in the case of fire or another disaster.) Many insurance companies don't standardize their policies this way and allow you to add guest medical and additional living expenses as an option. You may not learn as much until you have to file a claim, but these additional coverages are pretty nice to have. So we don't think that including them as a standard policy feature is a bad idea on Branch's part. But we allow that some customers might prefer more flexibility.

When you request a homeowners insurance quote from Branch, the company makes a minimum recommendation on the dwelling protection policy limits you should select. That amount is equal to the replacement cost of your home plus 10%. Branch then figures its recommended personal property coverage limit by taking 60% of your home's value.

In addition to selecting your policy limits, you can customize your policy and control your premium costs by the deductible you elect. The minimum deductible you can choose is $1000 but Branch offers some of the highest deductible options we've seen. You can choose a deductible equal to 5% of your dwelling policy limit. In our test case, that equaled about $26,000. But when we tested what raising our deductible that high would do to our policy costs, it only saved us a few hundred dollars a year.

If you own a car, the initial quote you're given will bundle home and auto coverage into one price. You can remove the auto policy (though it's a little tricky to figure out) if you prefer to purchase standalone homeowners insurance. But we did see significant savings with a bundled plan versus purchasing policies from two different companies.

Branch uses the bait and switch method. You get an unbelievable policy price initially, then at renewal they increase significantly. After 6 months my auto increased $600. After 12 months homeowners insurance increased $2,000. I had no home insurance claims in that period so $2,000 is outrageous. Another note. I had an auto claim in that 12 month period and that was the worst experience ever. My claims adjuster was unresponsive. I spent months trying to settle the claim. And I didn’t need any repairs and had no injuries. I cannot imagine how worse the process would have been had I needed assistance.

No. Cheap and affordable yes . Don't submit a home claim . Just like many others , they find reasons not to cover or repair . Roof damage and they don't cover a water leak because they are calling it preexisting .. so should the home owner get up on their roof every time it rains to inspect ? The home is approx 15 years old and because this is a leak due to an exhaust pipe they want to avoid assisting ..well I am avoid paying more premiums and dropping your pathetic ass

Ridiculous that they don’t cover shake roofs. They sure took my $ and covered my home. Two months later they did a home inspection and THEN advised they don’t cover shake. Never have I had had any ins company cancel bc of my roof type or not cover. I then had to start the entire process all over again which is the biggest pain in the ;($&&!

It is not a valid practice to charge policy holders after they have paid in full the agreed upon premium without a valid explanation with so much as a phone call and instructions on your needs required. Please discontinue this practice immediately… thank you for your consideration
