My comment is very simple. I have been told numerous times that payments are being deferred as I live in a town affected by Hurricane Irma. As I travel for most of the year I have requested my payment be deducted, unfortunately this has not happened. When contacting the company you are put on hold, and then eventually cut off. After the seventh call this evening and waiting over an hour I have given up. I get the impression that Transamerica Long Term Care thinks I am a nuisance caller. Each time I call Ian asked to give my details, a few moments ago I talked to a very nice lady, and when I told her the issue, I was disconnected. I would be very concerned if I had an issue with... My mother has TransAmerica LTC and paid for a full policy over the past 20 years. They recently bought Monumental Life LTC policies and house them under their company now. My mother now needs her policy and here is how it has gone so far in the past 5 days since we have tried to file a claim: Calls: 1. We need to start my mother policy; She is going into assisted care living because she can no longer take care of herself. She has been in the hospital for the past 3 months and will be released this week, but as per the doctors, she can not live alone. Needs full time custodial care. RESPONSE: Called and had to wait 1.5 hours for someone to pick up the phone. If you hang up, you... Read More

This company is a joke! I'd love to get a class action lawsuit against this company! I see that my mother is not the only one getting screwed around here. It's incredibly frustrating the fact that I have to call pretty much daily to find out where my mother's money is. They have said you'll get the money in "15 -20 days", which lifetime are they speaking of?

We have helped two aunt's make claims to Transamerica LTC insurance. One was a nightmare getting payments, the other received after elimination period, and though we have had several battles, they paid on the merit of three ADLs. With the change in AL providers due to sale of building and change of management, a nurse did not include one of the ADLs that had no break in service to our aunt. The Transamerica nurse came at that time and denied the claim. Rather than call the AL, we had to appeal, the doctor had to fill out a questionnaire, and we made multiple calls to customer service explaining what happened. The AL nurse could have quickly identified the problem and corrected it and... Read More

Dealing with TransAmerica long term insurance is a true nightmare. Incompetent seems to be the name of the game. My mom has paid I to this company since she was a young working woman. She is now 98, in a nursing home and TA pays her erratically. She hasn’t seen a dime since December. I have spent hours on the phone to them, faxed them papers multiple times that they claim they never received. I am at my wits end! Diane C. 03/25/2019

My parents has paid into this company for 22 years and are paying $11,000 a year to keep it activated. In order to file a claim with them you have to move into the Assisted Living facility first. Then they will do their Assessment to see if they qualify for Benefits. That is the dumbest thing I have heard. My Dad has Parkisons so I guess I will have to wait until it gets worse so I know for sure that he will definitely qualify by failing 2 of the 5 qualifications.

This company is terrible. What a waste of my mom's money and my time having to deal with them. My mom has been paying her monthly premiums since 1995 but Transamerica has only paid out 1.5 months of claims that have been submitted. I started the claim in Sept 2017 right before my mom moved from her assisted living room into a memory care room at the same facility. She has severe dementia. and needs help with everything. It is now October 2019. I spend hours on the phone with them every couple of months. Every time I call for an update they can't find the paperwork that I have submitted. Even though I have received letters from them saying they have received the paperwork but need... Read More

I have contacted Transamerica five times over the last 2 months in an efforto get a quote on reducing the elimination period for my long term care policy, thus reducing the premium that has DOUBLED in two years. I have spoken to five Customer Lack-of-Service agents, four of whom acted like they could care less about helping me. I've been told over and over, "we handle the requests for new quotes in the order in which they were received". The 5th agent agreed that my wait of several weeks was unacceptable and she would resend it, marked PRIORITY. Two weeks later, still no quote. Called Transamerica again today and asked to speak to a Supervisor, but was told none are available. The... Read More

Dealing with Transamerica is a nightmare! My mother, 87 years old, went into assisted living February, 2018. Now, TA decided she no longer qualifies and stopped paying benefits. We waited 14 months to sell her home (just in case something happened) and now they quit paying. The customer service is absolutely horrible, and they won't allow you to talk with anyone else (i.e., supervisor). I filed an appeal 4 months ago, still no decision. Gathering all my info to file a complaint with the insurance commissioner. I consider what they've done ELDER ABUSE! PLEASE, DO NOT CONSIDER TRANSAMERICA FOR LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE, or any other type policy!
