Given its history of almost a century in business, Allied Van Lines has more than earned the A+ rating it holds with the Better Business Bureau, despite there being more negative reviews than positive. It is surprising, however, that the company doesn't have a greater online presence on other third-party websites, especially considering its status in the industry.

Allied has been named a 3rd straight Women's Choice Award recipient in 2018. This award designation is based on a national survey of thousands of women across America who were asked to select from a list of nationally recognized moving brands while choosing who would most highly recommend to family and friends.

Warning from a conservative veteran. Stay away from these corrupt criminals. Ed Simmons (lying broker) ALLIED Van Lines / Lanigan Worldwide Moving and Warehousing Inc. They will take your money up front, lie about delivery, lie about not contracting out, and then destroy all your belongings. I have been in the Marines then Army Engineers for over 20 years total, so I have moved multiple times, used several movers, and I will say without a doubt that this company is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I am not one to write reviews, but I am warning everyone, DO NOT use these crooks. Ed Simmons initially told me and my wife that they never contracted out, but that is exactly what they... I am moving from Indiana to New York. Contacted Allied Van Lines and confirmed shipment date 7/25 and cost estimate date 7/14/2023. Later received a call from Coleman Van Line to change estimate timing due to conflict. Nothing happened at scheduled estimate time. Contacted both Allied and Coleman responses was that nobody was assigned after phone calls. Therefore, the confirmed shipment date of 7/25 is no longer available, there is at least one week delay. My house closing in on 7/27/2023. It bothers me that Both Allied and Coleman indicated the problem was caused by internal mess up, but they could do nothing about. My problem does not seem to be concerned. Eric Ker

Sadly our last move with Allied Van Lines was the worst experience we have ever had. They started the move by sending the one truck we told them would not fit into our condo complex, they proceeded to take out the pole, sprinkler system and part of the sidewalk and then charged us an additional $800 to get a new truck, due to our time constraints we had no choice, they did reimburse us $100 for that. Because of all those delays it took them 2 days to load our things. The move took 6 days, which honestly was pretty good, and they only had to deliver it a storage locker. 2 months later we emptied out our storage locker and realized what was missing, the center piece of a brand new love... I trusted my belongings to Allied Van lines. When they arrived, I found that they had dropped my entertainment center and broke loose a bottom shelf. They sent me a check for $500, even though the estimate that they asked for was for much, much more. I asked for a review, and they finally paid for the full cost of the repair. They also "lost" at least two boxes, one of which contained the most expensive thing I owned...my ruby necklace and earrings. This jewelry had tremendous sentimental value for me...much more than the intrinsic value. They did not reimburse me for any of the things that they lost. I have called and emailed them and have received no response. I would never move with... Read More

A nightmare from start to finish….We interviewed five large movers for our out of state move. Paul Rubinsak convinced us that the move was in good hands with Allied: all employees were background screened, the replacement insurance would cover any minor damage without any issue. The balance of our things were packed by a crew and loaded onto a truck, which then proceeded to sit in a warehouse in Chicagoland. The delivery was assigned to the last day of a four-day window (our stuff was already on the truck for a week). Then we were delayed a day; driver was sick. Then we were delayed another day because Allied booked the driver for the wrong date. Our delivery driver called us... Read More

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING ALLIED!!!! First off, I have moved domestically and internationally via professional moving services more than 5 times in the past decade, and have never had a worse experience. I would STRONGLY ADVOSE using anyone else, including doing the work yourself, as our experience ended up costing us much MUCH more than we paid for the service ($14,000 BTW...) First Major Issue: 22 Days Late We had several quotes for full service moving (full packing, moving, unloading, and treadmill service). We chose Allied due to the fact that they had "availability" and could get us into our home 2 - 6 days after our load day. Giving us a month to get settled in before our... Read More

Allied damaged a refrigerator in shipping. The damage occurred when they attempted to bring the refrigerator through the front door and damaged the door frame. They repaired the door frame but denied repairing the refrigerator. Here are some tips with dealing with this company and any moving company: 1) Slow them down and review the condition codes they apply to all of your effects. They will do their best to claim damage prior to the move and so capture on the sheets, knowing that you will not fully review them. Take the time to review every claim of scratches, wear, or damage on your property and dispute with photos any items you disagree with. My refrigerator had zero scratches on... Read More

Allied Van Lines accepted a $2000 insurance payment from me knowing that I was going to be putting my HHE into storage in my garage while the new home had new floors installed. Now they have denied my claim (which is actually less than $1000) on the basis that my HHE were stored in my garage and not put into place and inspected at the time of delivery. Allied knew this was the plan, because initially the goods were going into storage at their facility in Seattle. But since we had a 3 car garage and it was mild weather we decided to use the garage for couple weeks and avoid double handling. If I had known that the insurance would not pay out, obviously I would not have bought the... Read More

Awful - promised me a price and their contracted transporter charged me almost double! Packers were fast although packing may not have been good enough for the dereliction of transferers of goods from the shuttle to the truck. I was at the curb when the contracted transport driver open the van doors and I thought, Geezus! Boxes were haphazardly stacked, some strewn in the trailer and wardrobe box was crushed. Furnishings were damaged, one cabinet severely. Off loaders were quick and friendly but wrecklessly placed items in the house causing scrapes to newly painted walls and scraped porcelain tile floors. Telephone calls to customer service had gone unanswered until one when I was told the... Read More
