Founded in 2006, Personalabs was a pioneer in the online medical testing industry. In addition to offering over 400 at-home medical tests, the company now provides telehealth services in concert with testing. Once tested, patients can connect with licensed MDs to discuss their results. Personalabs is located in Fort Meyers, Florida

Breadth of Services

Personalabs started out in life as a service that allowed customers to order in-home testing kits online which in turn were brought to a local labs for processing. So it's not surprising that the telehealth services they offer now start with testing. Patients can order over 400 lab tests through Personalabs, either singly or bundled into testing panels. The test bundles the company offers provide insight into general wellness, men's health, or women's health. After patients receive their test results, they can schedule a virtual appointment with a licensed MD who can interpret the lab findings.

At this point, Personalabs doesn't offer many of the services other telehealth services provide, including urgent care treatment or ongoing treatment for chronic conditions. Generally speaking, the company doesn't prescribe medication. The one exception is medicine for sexually transmitted diseases. If you test positive for one, a Personalabs physician can send a prescription to your local pharmacy for pick-up. Personalabs plans to expand its services to include those now provided by other telehealth providers.

Professional Credentials and Licensures

Once you complete your Personalabs at-home tests, lab results are interpreted by licensed MDs. If you schedule a virtual appointment to have your results interpreted, you'll also meet with an MD.

Price

Even though Personalabs could do a better job of explaining the services it currently offers, the company does a good job communicating its pricing structure. Lab tests can be ordered individually or in bundles and prices are clearly listed for each. The company displays its virtual visit cost prominently: patients pay $89 for a 15-minute virtual physician appointment, during which a licensed MD can discuss your lab results and implications with you.

Customer Experience

Personalabs is a company in transition. Currently, its website is a little bit confusing. While "telehealth" is one of the headers on the site's homepage, the site doesn't provide a lot of information on its general telehealth services. There's no list of conditions its physicians treat. The site doesn't explain that virtual health visits are only available if you order and complete tests from the company. Nor does Personalabs discuss its capability to prescribe medication in any detail. We only learned exactly how the service works by speaking on the phone with one of the company's customer service representatives, who, incidentally, was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Information concerning lab testing, Personalabs' core service, is considerably clearer. The website doesn't have a live chat feature, but you can leave a message to have your questions answered.

Personalabs earns an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, however, no reviews of the company are published on the BBB website. Currently, Personalabs is not rated on Trustpilot.
