Summary

When it comes to any type of insurance coverage, a no limit benefit policy is our best protection against accidents and illness. Petsecure offers this option with its Secure 4 plan but this also comes at price. While this option is not recommended for those on a budget or with younger pets, pet owners with older pets should seriously consider this offer. Petsecure scores big with its coverage features and its preventive care services ensure that your pets are kept in tip top shape. Overall, Petsecure is definitely one of the better options for pet owners searching for pet insurance services.

Horrible, horrible company. I have a one year old French Bulldog puppy. When my dog was about 4 months she was bit by a tick on her face. I went to my vet and she examined the bite and prescribed me revolution so I can protect my dog from getting future ticks. The bite over next few days got even worse. So I came back to the vet again and she said don't worry it usually gets worse before it gets better. A week passed by and the bit was not getting any better. I visited my vet again and now the vet told me that I needed to do emergency day surgery on my puppy. After the procedure the vet charged me almost $800, and they recommended me to purchase puppy insurance. I thought that was a good... Read More

They will take your money month after month and when your pet gets sick, they won't cover any of it. Paid 650$ for a vet visit (my dog had a cough) and got 0$ back because of some bogus loophole policy. Very upsetting. I'm switching to Trupanion as I've heard MUCH better things from their clients.

Stay away from this company. We didn't even get to a point where we could use the insurance and we realized they are a scam and only care about money. We have 5 cats and decided to look into getting insurance for them. Things started off fine. The rate for all 5 was reasonable and it seemed like a great idea. Then the problems started. First off we have two 11 year old cats and we were told they needed recent blood work and urine analysis to be insured. We mentioned how getting urine from these two cats is impossible as we've been told by are vet they are too fat to get urine and they refuse to use a litter box that has beads in it. We told the rep this when setting the insurance up.... Read More

Level 4 pet insurance with Petsecure. I've paid over $4500 with this company. My dog is a 4yr old Bernese Mountain Dog and enrolled in Petsecure at 12wks of age. My deductible is $250. Deceiving when I'm paying vet bills at beginning of the insurance year for say $100. They take my 20% co-pay off that and put the $80 towards my deductible instead of the $100!!! What?? So when you think you've reached your deductible of $250 you really haven't as they will be deducting your 20% co-pay off each qualifying vet bill towards the deductible. Who does that? Cancelled insurance after they refused to pay for gastropexy with neutering as recommended by my veterinarian!!! I'm putting what I would pay... Read More

Be careful. I think the company is trying to scam. They found some obscure reason not to pay out for a legit claim. They kept stringing us along as they collected their $92/month. They were claiming the were not getting our e-mails or faxes. What company in Canada in 2016/2017 can't reliably receive e-mail/faxes. I would strongly recommend you avoid. We got scammed!

As soon as you start to make claims this company will change what they pay for their portion of the insurance even if you are nowhere close to your policy limits. While they claim to pay 80% up to $5000.00 per condition/illness they actual will reduce their co-pay long before you ever reach your limits. They will then say the change is temporary but in fact continue to review 18 months of the same review period. Choose wisely!

Probably the worse customer service I've ever had to deal with for a pet insurance provider. Constantly having issues with my auto payments & their customer service. Never get replies via email and always dealing with extremely rude staff. When i had an emergency come up with my dog i was left untie dark... When i called pet secure for assistance with the claims process and direct payment i was told to i had to deal with it all at my end and PAY out of my pocket, before calling for assistance - i got insurance for a reason !!!! who has 6000.00 just sitting around ???? i was told to deal with it myself - Not a way to treat customer during a stressful situation. Ive since left... Read More

I had two dogs insured with Petsecure, one was an 8 week old puppy, and one a 5 year old rescue. I had to constantly argue with Petsecure to honour claims for my rescue. She had many exclusions which were worded very vague in her policy, and they reworded these exceptions upon review so they would not have to cover her physio. I cancelled her policy and actually came out ahead, considering that they dropped her to 50% co-pay when she had too many claims. They now take weeks to complete a claim, instead of a week as still advertised on their website. I would not use Petsecure for any future pets

It make the process of verifying insurance very complicated although I provided all the previous documents of my cat, they would not let the insurance verified. Very disappointing and frustrating experience.

I have been with Petsecure since my dog was 8 weeks old and he is now 8 years old. In the beginning claims were processed in the 7-10 business days that the company guarantees. The last year they have been experiencing "seasonal" peaks all year (not seasonally) and claims have been taking 20 business days. I think this is extremely unacceptable. I would leave and switch companies but my pet has a lot of health issues and I don't think any other company would insure him. I often wonder if this is why my claims always take so long!
