Summary

When it comes to any type of insurance coverage, a no limit benefit policy is our best protection against accidents and illness. Petsecure offers this option with its Secure 4 plan but this also comes at price. While this option is not recommended for those on a budget or with younger pets, pet owners with older pets should seriously consider this offer. Petsecure scores big with its coverage features and its preventive care services ensure that your pets are kept in tip top shape. Overall, Petsecure is definitely one of the better options for pet owners searching for pet insurance services.

Very poor customer service. Was cut off in mid sentence of asking a question regarding an unpaid claim for a chronic illness. Cancelling this policy.

I requested pet insurance for my dog to be effective as of July 11th. I submitted all existing veterinary records to the company a month prior to the effective date. As of July 17th, I am still waiting for my binder letter. Don't get pet insurance with his company.

Do not purchase this plan. Your deductible will change the first time your dog has any issue. Stated at 80% but now that my pet has chronic illness, high blood pressure my deductible is down to 50% reimbursement. Rates haven't change. Be aware there are better out there. ...and so our saga continues. Once they penalize you with a reduction in co-pay it will remain so regardless of what you do and it will continue for 2 years because they use the same data over and over again. Choose your insurance company wisely. In November 2016 we received notification that the company was changing their co-pay from 80% down to 60%. No explanation given. In May 2017, we received notification stating co-pay was going down again to 50%. Since then, no documentation and when you ask, they will only say a review was done and there was no change. We paid premiums for secure 3, which we were told provided coverage for $5000 per year, per condition at 80%. NOT. In 5 1/2 years... Read More

**Correction from Okotoks, Alberta.** I had a wonderful experience dealing with Petsecure. Our family cat who was 1 year and 8 months old developed Saddleback Thrombosis. He had to be euthanised. Our family was devasted and heart broken by this sudden loss of one of our family member. The Petsecure representative was extremely sincere and empathetic. She ended up putting a rush on our file when typically it can take up to 10 business days. Petsecure ended up covering everything according to our policy secure 2. We recieved our claim $$ within 48 hours. Thank-you petsecure for all your help during such a difficult time!

I had such a horrible experience with Pet Secure. We had been a customer of theirs since my dog was almost 3. Year after year, we paid our monthly payment on time until last November when I switched job and travelled a lot. My payments had lapsed for 4 months (by accident), never received notification in email. The only reason I noticed it was when I checked my visa statement. I called them and they made me sign up for a new plan and the health issues that we had before are now considered Existing Conditions and will not be covered. They treated us like we were a new customer. After 7 years of paying $70 plus a month meant absolutely NOTHING. Please please please do your... Read More

Definitely do not take insurance through this company. The two times we have submitted larger claims for our dogs dental work and recently for his arthritis, we received a pittance back (i.e. $1,200 claim and $151 paid out).. This has been an absolute rip-off.

Avoid this company at all costs!! They will go to extreme lengths in order not to pay out on claims.

They'll just raise your co-pay when the scale tips in your favour. Not worth it at all. Takes forever to get claims processed, they claim not to receive a bunch and you have to re-send them, and they often deny claims and then you have to call and on reassessment they will cover it. It's been a hassle dealing with them.

I have had Petsecure since my dog came to the house as a puppy. The raised the premium last year without my permission but simply a letter. For the covered period, every condition my dog ever had, they would find a reason to "EXCLUDE" that from my policy. Seriously, I have paid over $50 per month for 2 years, that's over $1000 in total and they haven't paid me back anything. It's such a waste of money!
