Users are advised to maintain and update any information so it remains true, accurate and complete at all times. Rover.com offers optional background checks through a partnership with First Advantage that verifies that a sitter has not committed a felony or violent crime, such that there would be reason to believe that animals would be in danger while in their care. Rover.com does not investigate any user’s reputation, conduct, morality, criminal background or verify information submitted though the services.

Cancellations

If you book a reservation with a sitter, then you have to cancel your reservation, which does happen, Rover.com will return the funds to the pet owner in accordance with the sitter's cancellation policy. Policies may vary from sitter-to-sitter. Rover.com, however, isn't obligated to intervene in any dispute between users regarding any cancellations and/or refunds outside of Rover.com cancellation policy (if any), regardless of whether Rover.com collected any money on behalf of a pet care service provider or third party service provider. It's really about you knowing how the sitter you choose operates, then being respectful with your sitter in the event that an unforeseen emergency comes up or your travel plans change last minute.

The sitter ghosted me last minute after verifying with me an appointment time to come meet my pets. I had to find another sitter the day before my trip.

the worst experience of my life. I used rover because a co-worker of mine had a good experience and my girlfriend and I had to fly home for the holidays and we didn't want to put our dog through the flight. have a dog that requires medicine to be applied to her eyes twice every day. Part of the agreement with Rover was that send photos of our dog every day, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN. We wanted the photos to make sure that our dog was getting the eye treatment she needed. Upon returning we found out that the person we left our dog with had LOST THE MEDICINE. So we did not receive photos documenting the fact that she had been getting her medicine, we didn't even get her medicine back as they had... Read More

We had a Rover sitter at our home over the holidays. The house was a complete disaster when we came home. The dresser was full of clothes and pills that the sitter did not remove from the house. The floors were covered in dried pee, along with pee soaked sheets left sitting in the washing machine. The dogs had peed on the kitchen floor, where we keep them when they are unattended. Clearly, this sitter left our dogs having to pee and poop without letting them out. We suspect they had been alone most of the time. The pills found were opiates, and a letter with the person's real name exposed a very troubled individual who had been arrested in the past. DO NOT let your fur babies be... Read More

WARNING!! If you use ROVER.COM this can happen to you! I booked a dog sitter from Rover.com to stay with my dog when I took a 5 day trip. I met the sitter first. She seemed nice and my dog liked her. I scheduled and paid for this service three months in advance. I gave her a key to my home. I even stocked food for her stay, making every effort to ensure her comfort. I bought my round trip plane ticket and awaited the arrival of the sitter. She NEVER SHOWED UP. She failed to answer any of my calls and failed to respond to any of my texts. My plane took off without me. I called every boarding facility I could to find a last minute arrangement and finally found one, thankfully, and then I... Read More

I probably should have read the reviews before using the services of Rover.com. Their website claims 24 hour support if any issues come up. That is simply not true. They have an automated system that loops you back around with automated responses. I had to wait more than 20 hours for an email response that did not even get my issue correct. The pet sitter I hired through their site cancelled on short notice and I was left up in the air with NO sitter. Their customer service could not have cared less. No referrals to back up options, no empathy for me or my pet, and no direct human contact. Only vague emails directing me to use their website. This company does not give a $#*! about the... Rover sent me notices that I need ed to sign up to continue my services and then billed me for the 1st visits that I had selected as well as the 2nd time I signed up, Increasing the rate from $12 for half an hour visit to 30. because I was asked to by rover To resign up even though I was already signed up. So I didn't need to resign up they just said that so that they could bill me twice. I canceled and they refused to cancel the visits that I signed up for and then 4 weeks later they set the sitter a rover card saying that I requested services. I found out that not only is there no customer support but they also upload all of your text messages to their app. This company should be shut... Read More

I have had a couple of very positive experiences with finding caretakers, but also have now had a bad experience with Rover themselves sending me a threatening email about taking me off the platform without first hearing from me on what happened. A Person that I was wanting to watch my pet had setup two different meet and greets and I took of work both days, and they never showed for either appt. I then informed her without tone, but matter of fact that being she had not shown for either booking I was canceling my appt. She became indignant saying we never had firm appts, although both were documented in Rover chat, and that "I don't want you as a Client" I wanted to report her to... Read More

In Scottsdale AZ I used To er for the first time. After a 6 day stay with a retired teacher, Thomas, I picked up a sick dog. Right to the vet after X-rays he had contracted pneumonia. After 1,000 in vet bills and “ their Rover guarantee” I was turned down on even my appeal with a firm letter and a $100 dollar reimbursement. My dog is still on a nebulizer. Don’t use this service. Their insurance and guarantees are non existent. Never again.

I hired a pet sitter through Rover starting 9/14/24 for six 30-minute "drop-in sessions." Our pet sitter was very dishonest. The sitters can apparently fudge their arrival and departure times in the Rover app. We learned this when our sitter DIDN'T SHOW UP for a visit - we knew when she had been coming and going based on our Ring doorbell notifications. Then she claimed to show up for Saturday dinnertime drop in at 12:35 am on SUNDAY morning, but we knew she was lying based on no alarm/camera notification. She then sent a photo of our dogs as "proof" of the visit, but she actually sent duplicate photos from the previous Thursday night. Sitter left our dogs alone for 22 hours with no... Read More
