Novorésumé's beta version was released on February 22, 2016, after numerous testing periods. The idea for Novorésumé came from one of its co-founders, who did not have previous work experience when hired by an important Danish company. He decided to create a résumé that was more focused on his skills and it paid off, which later gave him the idea of making a website where users could select simple and appealing résumé templates.

Although Novorésumé's résumé building service can be used for free, features are severely limited when compared to those of its premium membership. Whereas free users can only make one-page résumés or CVs, use predefined layouts, and store just one résumé, premium users can create both résumés and cover letters, use custom layouts, and access professional video tutorials–in addition to a host of aesthetic features such as 9 extra fonts, up to 20 more color themes, creative backgrounds, and more. Premium membership can be bought for one, three, or twelve months at a time and will never auto-renew.
