ESPN+ TV Streaming Services Review

Launched in 2018, ESPN+ is a tv streaming service that offers a wide range of sports-related content not found on its affiliated cable television channel ESPN. Subscribers can access live NHL, PGA Golf, NCAA Men's and Women's basketball games, among others, as well as live sports talk shows and exclusive sports series. With the addition of optional Disney+ programming, they can also watch content offered by the iconic family brand Disney. ESPN+ is co-owned by Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution and ESPN, Inc. The company is headquartered in Bristol, Connecticut.

Why Subscribe to ESPN+

If you already subscribe to the ESPN channel via cable or satellite, have access to Sunday night football and other major league games, and still can't get enough sports, ESPN+ might be the perfect TV streaming service for you. Positioned by Disney and ESPN—corporate owners of the service—as a complement to ESPN, ESPN+ does not duplicate the content on ESPN, but rather opens up a wider world of sports viewing, offering NHL, NCAA, and PGA games, tennis tournaments, combat sports, and more. In addition to viewing games, ESPN+ subscribers can enjoy all-day sports programming either live or on-demand, which includes daily sports talk shows, exclusive sports documentaries, and original sports-themed dramas.

Subscription Costs

Even if you already subscribe to other streaming services, ESPN+ won't break the bank. The service costs $6.99 per month. You can save a few dollars by purchasing an annual plan for $69.99 per year. If you'd like to widen your general viewing horizons, you can also bundle ESPN+ with Disney and Hulu for $13.99 per month, which represents some savings versus purchasing all three services separately.

How To Stream ESPN+

ESPN+ is compatible with a wide range of viewing devices and platforms, including Apple iOS and Android phones and tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Roku sticks, Chromecast, Apple TV, Playstation and Xbox gaming devices, and other popular choices. We connected with ESPN+ customer service via live chat and learned that not all smart TVs are supported—only those that are equipped with the Android TV app. To find out whether your smart TV is compatible with ESPN+, check to see if you can download the Android TV app. If not, you won't be able to stream ESPN+ on the TV. The company does report that they are working on smart TV compatibility issues and will be adding devices in the future. We appreciated the ability to talk with a live human when we had technical questions about ESPN+ service. The ESPN+ website also features an FAQ section and a range of trouble-shooting articles to make deciding whether to purchase and using the service easier for customers.

Programming Highlights

An ESPN+ subscription gives users access to the company's 30 for 30 Library, a compilation of more than a hundred influential sports documentaries, a 13-episode series entitled ESPN Films Presents, a collection of sports shorts, sports podcasts and more. The 30 for 30 content is available for streaming or download. So if you can't find a game you want to watch and still want to get your sports fix, ESPN+ has you covered.

ESPN+ biggest problem is they are part of Disney which is more interested in profit than service. This past weekend, our Dish Network removed ESPN, etc. We paid for ESPN+ hoping to watch the games. ESPN does NOT provide all games on ESPN, only the selected games for that service. Choice of games was terrible. We cancelled within the week. BTW, the personal account app was also down, so the only way I could address my issues was to find and call their toll-free number. They DID cancel the service (w/o refund) with no poblem.

If there could be a negative rating, I would give them that. They cover no fun or important games, they don't allow you to watch the majority of 30 for 30 films without paying extra. All you pay for is updates on your phone. What a waste of time and money. I hope everyone moves away from this so they don't get ripped off for watching simple sporting events

ESPN+ is NOT WORTH IT. What is the point of having an ESPN account if I cant watch NBA games on ESPN with a subscription. Totally not worth the price. Worthless and disappointed.
