Humana is very terrible. My wife and I picked up Humana because it was cheap and would cover the basics. For 8 months I tried working with them to find a provider in my area. Each time I would talk to a rep (which was always the same lady) she would tell me that there were many dentists in my area; yet when she sent me the list of providers there was one in my area and all the others were a 2+ hour drive from my house - despite my repeatedly telling her my zip code and mileage requirement. Not to mention, the only provider that accepted Humana was an oral surgeon and not a regular dentist which I needed. The Humana website never worked for me when I tried to locate a dentist in my area,... Read More

Humana Dental Insurance is garbage. There is 1 in-network provider in my area. I have 2 children with the insurance but Humana doesn't cover pediatric dentistry and the only in-network dentist doesn't work with kids. Humana refused to pay a single cent because pediatric dentists are a 'specialty' dentist. Why the hell do they even offer insurance for kids? What a scam. DO NOT BUY.

Absolutely terrible. Every provider listed as "in-network" told me they don't accept this insurance so I have been paying for something I am unable to use. and customer service is useless. Do Not Buy!

If I could give them a 0 I would. They must be paying to have a better rating on this website since most of the reviews I have seen are negative. It has been 2 months since I got an expensive procedure done and they keep cancelling my claim. I have the insurance through my mom and I got laid off due to COVID-19, that money is worth 2 months of rent for me. No one on their end knows what they are doing and they keep trying to blame my doctor's office for their negligence. I have been going to this doctor for a while and had no issues until I started using this insurance. Literally the worst insurance company.

I signed up as a Humana Honor enrollee, as a disabled vet, and as a Medicare recipient, it certainly sounds like a good plan. However, it is unfortunate a company as large as Humana writes policies for seniors as deceptive as they do, compared to the coverage actually offered. The policy they post as part of the plan maliciously leads the customer to believe they cover normal dental costs, I've found over the past three years they only cover terms that aren't used by Dentists to explain treatment. When questioned about the lack of coverage Humana refers to specific words and refuses to cover any treatment, except X-rays and it is marginal. So, if you have to repair a tooth that has... If I could give them 0 I would. Dealing with the customer service representatives a joke. First off it's so difficult just to understand them. They play games with you tell you supervisors are not available to speak with, put you on hold for 30 minutes multiple times then just disconnect the call. This insurance I have through my job so I have no choice but to use it, however I did purchase another outside insurance since they only cover part of what they claim to cover. One day I spoke with 4 agents, 3 times was on hold for 30 minutes, so a total of an hour and a half on hold waiting for a supervisor, just to be completely disconnected while still on hold. Still did not get an answer for... Read More

So glad I found this site as I was ready to buy Humana C550 dental Ins. All the comments regarding hold time, bad web site and not being able to understand their rep's on the phone are absolutely TRUE. Also I can't find a dentist who accepts it??? Thank you all for taking the time to post, it saved me a lot of aggravation I'm sure!!

I bought the policy because it said it paid 70% for out of network dentists. They don't tell you that means they pay 70% of what their contract price with in network doctors charge (after deductible). So out of $224 or $174 after deductible, for cleaning and x-rays they only pay $41. So they only pay 23%. There saying 70% is why I chose the policy, it doesn't cover anything other than cleanings and basic services but I wanted the out of network coverage. They should not hide this by saying they pay 70% and somewhere else in the policy say something about prices they pay may vary if out of network. This cost me $366 for myself and daughter when my last insurance covered a fair... Read More

I work at a dental office following up on slow paying insurance companies. I was on the phone 5 different times with Humana today, getting disconnected three times! I had a very difficult time understanding the accents of 4 out of 5 of the representatives and NEVER got the claim solved. I have also called 3 other times (about once every 3 weeks) on the same claim and got a different answer each time. I wish I could have given them NO stars; they are awful!!!
