Recently had our gutters cleaned and Leaf Filter installed, incredibly expensive for what you actually get. The salesman went through a slick well practiced pitch where he scared us into buying the system saying our foundation was being washed away. I assessed the actual cost to Leaf Filter for labor plus equipment I gave a generous price of $1,500.00 the actual cost to us was $7,144.00. We are retired on a fixed income shame on these people.
Total failure. High priced to begin with, and then wafer flow problems caused wood rot on eaves. Having to replace the entire system after 3 years.
Leaf filter claims are false and their customer service is horrible. The guard/filter became clogged after 2 years of installation. It happened in several spots. The clogged spots were located directly under the spouts that were on the second floor. The rain poured from the spouts on the filter/guard. Over a period of 2 years they became clogged. After that, every time it rained hard, the water from the spout went over the filter/ guard and not through it like it should. This ruined 2 flowerbeds by uprooting several plants. The salesman said I had 274 linear feet of gutter and spent 20 minutes going through a presentation. I kept interrupting him to get to the price. He said he would but this first. Finally I insisted. He quoted me $10,500. I said I wasn't interested. He then said he had some "year end sales" and quoted $4,500. I still wasn't interested. On the way out it became $3,500 IF I wrote positive reviews. After he left I did a rough measurement and my gutters are well under 200 linear feet. He lied about my job size and waaay overpriced my initial quote. Also, most of these positive reviews you see are bought and paid for. AVOID!!!
Not impressed with people representing Leaf Filter or the product. Had the Leaf Filter gutter product installed two days ago. A number of heavy rain showers associated with a major winer storm system sweeping north east along the east coast revealed that the rain water run off, especially at the roof valley locations, just washes across the leaf filter mesh screens and causes waterfalls along the gutter system. The sales man that sold me the system lacked knowledge, made excuses, apologized numerous times, and had nothing that associated him with the Leaf Filter company, no businesses cards or company logo apparel. We contacted LeafFilter to quote us on their highly rated gutter guard system. Their gutter guard system looks and seems like a top notch product. However, we felt pressure to make a purchase decision prior to the salesperson leaving our home. The "promotional discounts" were only in effect until he left our home. How is that not a pressure tactic?! Not only did we feel the pressure to make an instant decision without benefit of discussing it, but also we felt the length of time the salesperson was in our house (2.5 hours!) simply added to the pressure we felt. This review on Consumers Advocate is BS - look at all the negative reviews from real customers. Product is not #1 - the company is using a 10 year old Consumer Reports review that was cherry picked to make them look like they ranked #1. Sales reps are looking to gouge customers - watch the price drop as you say no...all the way down to $11/foot. Word to the wise - don't respond to the ad no matter how convincing it may seem
Leaf filter is garbage rated for me. It is not for Wa. State residents with cedar trees or pine needles or moss build up. ! They fooled me into believing it was. They do not flow off gutters as leaves might. I now have major dripping from gutters causing trenches around my house from the dripping mess that splatters under my eaves. I was told that I have continuously water spray the needles and gunk off of the gutters with a pressure washer. So basically, I would have to climb onto my roof 10 times per year to Keep them up to par to work properly. Unsafe thing, I would think. Plus to carry a pressure washer up on roof numerous times. I would not recommend the LeafFilter company. Their gutter installation contractor did not get the new gutters up under the drip edge and it was like Niagara Falls the first rain storm. Water was flowing off the drip edge and passing between the new gutters and the facia on the house. After three different attempts by them to fix the problem, I placed aluminum strips under the drip edge to the top of the LeafFilter system. Then five months after installation, a one of the 5 foot pieces of their product, fell apart. The screening came off and almost blew away. Now they claimed was nature related. I highly suggest to stay away from this company 100%. I live in Cheektowaga NY just outside of Buffalo. Being a 62 year old with a bad back we decided to have gutter protection put on. The reason we decided on Leaf Filter was what they say they do prior to applying the protection. First on work order clean gutters (NOT DONE), second check downspouts (NOT DONE), third seal downspouts with 50 year silicone (NOT DONE) in fact told I didn't need it and it would wash away. Next check alignment of gutters (NOT DONE) said they can tell just looking at it. Add brackets to reinforce gutters, I believe i counted maybe four or five on front and four or five on back.
