Backup Plan

The Backup Plan is ideal for generally healthy people who want to know they will be covered in case of a major injury or illness. With this plan, the patient has a choice of three metal levels with different individual deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. Before meeting the deductible, the patient pays the full price for services like primary care, specialist visits, urgent care, labs, and all drugs. After meeting the deductible, all services under the Bronze and Silver levels are $0. Under the Gold level, they are 20% of the total cost.

BACKUP PLAN Bronze Silver Gold
Individual deductible $6,500 $4,500 $1,500
Individual Out-of-Pocket Maximum $6,500 $4,500 $4,500

Simple Plan

The Simple Plan is the signature Oscar plan. There are four coverage levels, including the Secure level, designed for people who only have routine care needs. With the Secure and Bronze levels, most services must be fully paid by the patient before the deductible is met. Under the Silver and Gold levels, most services have copays that range from $10 to $50, depending on the service. Once the deductible is met, all services under every Simple Plan level are 100% covered by the insurance. Additionally, since the deductibles match the OOP maximums, there is no cost-sharing under the Simple Plans.

SIMPLE PLAN Secure Bronze Silver Gold
Individual deductible $7,350 $7,350 $7,350 $4,000
Individual Out-of-Pocket Maximum $7,350 $7,350 $7,350 $4,000

Classic Plan

The Classic Plan follows the structure of traditional health insurance plans, which may be ideal for people with chronic illnesses who need ongoing care. Four metal levels are available, with the Platinum level offering no deductible and copays for every service. With the Bronze level, on the other hand, all services must be paid in full before the deductible is met. After the deductible is met, the patient pays 50% of the total cost for most services and copays for prescription drugs. The Silver and Gold levels are similar in that most services must be paid in full before the deductible is met. Once the patient meets the deductible, copays are charged for the different services, with the Gold level offering the lowest post-deductible copays.

CLASSIC PLAN Bronze Silver Gold Platinum
Individual deductible $4,000 $2,000 $600 $0
Individual Out-of-Pocket Maximum $7,150 $6,750 $4,000 $2,000

Summary

Oscar sets itself apart from the competition with its wide range of plans. Any customer can find a plan that fits their health care needs—and their budget. Oscar also offers a variety of additional services at no cost, like a concierge that can help customers get the most out of their plan. Services like this really make a difference when it comes to customers deciding between plans. Consumers can receive an instant free quote online by entering a few personal details like zip code, age, and income. Unfortunately, Oscar is only available in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Michigan, Florida, and California, though they expect to expand to other states in the future.

Oscar is a terrible company and unfortunately, they don't even pay their sales agents the commission they promised us. So I won't be wasting any more of my time as an agent selling for them.

This company is awful. They send you bogus claims and there's almost no way to get in touch with an expert. I truly think they're the worst company I've had to deal with in my life. If there's a hell, Oscar execs will be there someday.

The worst health insurance ever. High premiums and terrible coverage. Do not even consider speaking to their customer service. Completely useless and unfriendly. Do yourself a favor and don't fall for their marketing!

Do not use Oscar. They will do everything to deny a claim; a favorite trick seems to be (and I am experiencing now) converting "screening" colonoscopies (free according to ACA) to a "diagnostic" instead. The result? - a surprise $4000 dollar bill. This is the reason that people fear screenings and what should be routine exams; some of which end up incurable cancer. Oscar, in other words has a business practice that is literally responsible for KILLING people. They also have "errors" in their online and paper work - such as non existent mailing addresses for Grievances. Incorrect codes for doctors, etc. They also raises rates at a much higher rate than the national average; 2022 to... Read More

Oscar is the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. It's your one-stop-shop for everything that can possibly be frustrating about an insurance company: 1. Impossible to look up what providers are in/out of network? Check. 2. Customer service reps who can't speak intelligible English? Check. 3. Claims department that deliberately and for no reason keeps large claims in the "processing" queue so your out of pocket never gets applied to your deductible? Check. 4. Changing policy benefits mid-year? Check (Virtual visits were advertised as being free. They now cost $38.) 5. Automatically sign you up for auto-renewal of your policy without checking with you? Check. 5a. Website portal... Read More

I have had my multi-state insurance license for years and have never had a more unprofessional experience than Oscar insurance. Out of country customer service hung up on me four times. They refuse to let me speak with their manager. During the cancellation process they try to sell you everything from timeshares to bargains that they found on the internet. I've honestly never seen anything like it. After asking to verify our credit card in order to cancel, they fraudulently signed us up for additional coverage that we did not order and had to cancel it. When the fraudulent program arrived in the mail it was the wrong spelling of my wife's name and the wrong email and contact info.... Read More

I have the Oscar Silver Simple HSA plan. I would NEVER use Oscar again. Their sole focus seems to deny claims, not honor them. I will NOT renew with them in 2023!!

I have limited choice in Texas and this company is laughably horrible. Their “concierge” service is useless and totally rude. I spent hours on hold, getting hung up on trying to pay my premium. Eventually I gave up and troubleshot the problem myself. Turns out my zip code was incorrect. A very simple issue but it took 2 hours and listening to the nastiest customer service reps. Also, I’m 42 no smoker, No preexisting conditions, my deductible is 7900 and my monthly is $390. So I pay almost $400 a month for lousy service and out of pocket dr visits. I’m basically uninsured with a concierge troll team. This is a scam company and I wasn’t surprised to find it’s part of the Kushner family... Read More
