I love Hippo. They are well ahead in the game in terms of speed, use of technology, simplicity of processes etc. Their claim process is fast and simple.

Quick to close claim and paid part really fast, But slow on supplements 3months in so far. Agent has been terrible at communicating, haven’t been able to get a response on email or phone in 2 weeks. This is not the first time I have been left unanswered through this ridiculous process. I just want someone to talk to me and tell me whats going on.

I just started my third year of coverage. Each year, upon renewal, hippo changes the coverage to suit their own needs upon renewal without ever asking and then charges me the increased premium. I had to talk to them last year and insist on the coverage I had chosen the first time. I asked them to stop doing that. They just did it again. premium went way up with increased coverage and they have already charged me. They count on deceiving their customers. I am never happy when a company abuses my trust. I can only imagine if I ever need to file a claim it will be even worse. Nasty business model. I think it's time to try another company.

Wow!! I wish I could give a negative stars. I have had Hippo insurance since I purchased my home in 2021. No claims whatsoever. My mortgage company was TWO DAYS late paying the invoice, Hippo sent the check back and cancelled my policy. Most every other company in the industry gives a grace period. As a client I have no control over the mortgage company and there is no recourse so Hippo's policy punishes the client, and they do not care. I could understand if they never received payment, but they received the check and just returned it. I called and spoke with them and they said they are cracking down on mortgage companies and will not reinstate the policy. Am I missing something, how does... Read More

Very bad customer service. I requested to remove my Credit card info from my file. They assured me that it was done. They billed my Bank for 160$ after I already paid my policy. I told them not to send refund too credit card as I already cancelled it. They promised to send it to my address. Instead they send it to cancelled account. They did not remove info from my file as they said they did. Violation of my Rights as customer. They billed Bank after got my payment. They promised and did not keep it. Now I am unable to get any solid help from them , just unskilled staff who knows nothing. Don not deal with Hippo

Stay away! We opted for a rider to our policy for coverage to electrical items in the home. After a lightning strike our coverage was denied, due to it being a power surge. What other reason is there to cover items?

Very positive and professional experience with my homeowners, BUT about 180 degrees unfortunately when I tried to do Umbrella coverage thru them. Too bad, but maybe growing to fast for their own good, and the good of the venture $$ backing them.

No stars Hippo homeinsurance approved my contractors then fired my adjuster Tori Reynoldsburg for poor business practices the my second adjuster Robert Kash quit then my third adjuster is denying the claim and throwing me out of the hotel to my home with the work incomplete no kitchen no walls unsafe I have 8:days to return to my home in this environment. I am 73 years old

Condo insurance only. Year one, premium low $500's, a big increase from prior year with another carrier but compatible to the other carrier's rate increase. Year two, 49% increase, year three 49% increase, year four another 30% (proposed increase). Finally shopped around. Now with a major insurer for less than I was paying year one. That's kind of on me of course for not shopping after the first increase, but watch for the rapidly escalating premiums. The company is very automated and has good online tools. EXCEPT, when it comes to not auto renewing. To cancel a renewal you have to call, wait on hold (and the menu selections don't include canceling or renewals). Horrible... Read More
