Latest AFC Home Warranty Reviews
We replaced our 10 year old water heater because its hot water output was diminishing. The new heater, expansion tank and labor was $3,300. AFC reimbursed us $100 citing a contract depreciation clause. The point of a home warranty is to pay for a replacement unit when another fails. Water heaters last only 10-12 years. AFC effectively offers no actual water heater replacement coverage unless the unit explodes or suffers other catastrophe. If offering only a drastically reduced depreciated value, AFC should at least cover labor.
This company is a joke! They have no problem taking your money but when you actually need help or service they don't do shit besides treat you with disrespect and absolutely zero customer service. My furnace went out four days ago when I made a call and nothing. They claim they scheduled a technician but when I contacted said technician they haven't heard from or received anything from AFC. I was treated poorly by this contractor as well. My house has been in the 40°S for four days and I have kids. Bullshit!
Damper motor on ac was found to be defective by technician they sent to the house. The representative informed me that that part isn’t covered. Really?
The ac can’t work without it and I didn’t do anything to break it.
I have a platinum membership so the only benefit I got in exchange for a $600 plan is a $75 service fee and I have to pay for repairs out of pocket? Rip off!
As a Disabled Veteran and Consumer, I am utterly appalled by this company. This company talks a good game but does not follow thru. I filed a claim to because my Ameristar AC was not blowing out cold air. Since it came with the house 3 years ago, forgive me for thinking that i would file a claim. They would send a technician out to see what is wrong. Maybe the AC needs a little Freon, or a valve is not fully open because they do offer that in the warranty. Nope just the runaround and there is nothing we can do. I had no information on it which is why I got a home warranty. Go figure... They call me back and tell me that I have to contact Trane because it is still under warranty until... Read More
This company is a SCAM!! They didn't cover ANYTHING that I made claims on and after I canceled my membership they charged me so many fees that I ended up only getting $63 back out of the $250+ that they owed me after having been with them for 6 months! TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!
One of the worst Home insurance company, please don't take any insurance from this provider. They are just minting money without resolving the consumer issues.
Super easy to file a claim and even faster processing time. We filed a claim Monday night online and got a call Tuesday for confirmation. That same Tuesday someone was out to assess the repair. Our claim was denied due to it not being a covered item (Freon). Even though it was not covered it was great knowing within 24hrs so that we can get the fridge repaired. The last home warranty company we used would have been a minimum 2 weeks to get an answer because they are so slow and have a horrible process. I love AFC so far!
Excellent Company! I love that I have the choice to select the person who does my repair or use a company recommended provider. The customer service representatives are polite and knowledgeable, the cost is appropriate, and responses are quick.
Working with AFC was really incredible everyone seems to be caring about the contractors and their customers I would give them a five-star
Very cooperative, serious and honest, all praise from me and my family.
Assisted me even when it wasn't covered but I was surprised at the things that are considered normal wear and tear
I came to America's 1st Choice after having terrible experiences with American Home Shield and Cinch Home Services. The representative from America's 1st Choice was very helpful, gave me his email for any questions or concerns, now or later, and was available for any questions I had. A stark contrast to the other companies where you can't reach a live person.
The representative of AFC that contacted me looking for electrical repair service for a customer was very professional and concise. So many web-based "referral" companies call me as if they are doing me a favor by charging hundreds of dollars per "qualified lead" long story short.. I'm glad I didn't ignore the call from AFC.. cost me nothing, they just got a reasonable fee from the grateful customer and I had total control over the resulting job quote. Thanks, looking forward to my next job!

Easy to work with and very friendly representatives. As a vendor we highly recommend AFC.
Great Service. Awesome company to work with at a good price Thanks.
I had a plumbing issue that I thought was covered by my contract. A supervisor confirmed it. But when it came time to pay, I paid the vendor but complained to AFC that I expected a different outcome. AFC worked hard to cover my service. I appreciate their effort.
I paid AFC, in full, upfront, for the 3 Year Platinum Plan only to have every claim I filed denied. First claim for a Hot Water Heater I paid AFC $150 deductible $1400 repair bill and was reimbursed $80. Second claim for a bathtub faucet, Inpsid AFC $150 deductible and paid $460 for repairs out of pocket, and AFC paid/reimbursed $0. Third claim for new hvac unit, again paid AFC $150 deductible and $6800, AFC paid/reimbursed $0? I would not recommend AFC, it’s a rip off.
This company is not good at all if your house is not new. Their proration for claims means that if your house is older (which is when you need a warranty), the proration means they pay next to nothing for repairs and replacements. Furthermore, they charge a big up front fee; if you cancel they prorate by days you actually were a member and then they subtract any claims you made. So basically they can ensure that if you use them once and cancel, you well get nothing back. I ended up spending $833 for 11 months of coverage. They paid $289 for a huge repair on my heater. I get nothing back when I cancel after they subtract the one claim I made and the $75 cancellation fee. STAY AWAY from... Read More
Great Service. Customer service is awesome. And very helpful and very informative.
This company does not provide the coverage they advertise. On an air conditioner repair, they first determined that the unit was recently out of warranty, then prorated what they considered to be the “remaining value” of the the unit. For a system that was a mere six years old, AFC Home Club offered to pay about one seventh of the repair estimate provided by their own recommended AC technician. By complaining to their customer service department and later to the Better Business Bureau, I was able to increase the reimbursement amount to about a third of the repair cost. Under no circumstances would I recommend this company to any homeowner or tenant.
Originally I was with AHS ( this location is my Rach House) they had just replaced my water well pump that I had several years, but it was hard for them to locate contractors in that area and AFC home Club tells me I can get my own contractors and they can directly pay them or I can get reimbursed and i was sold by a sales manager he gave me his direct phone line well ok, a few months later my AC unit to the upstairs went out so I located a AC company at a nearby town and he went by and diagnosed the problem the compressor sorted out so he called them and told them and they asked him if there there thunderstorms near by and he said yes, so them they call me and tell me it was an act of God... This company has unreasonably low deductables on everything. One plumbing issue nearly meets their entire plumbing deductible. They have terrible communication and have had to send multiple plumbers to my home to fulfill one service issue. I will never work with them again.
I have worked with this company for over 4 years. I am canceling my membership. It has become increasingly difficult to get them to cover claims that are covered as per my contract. They seem to always say, "No, we do not cover that as a first response." I then am referred to talk with a manager who will most often offer me something--like, "Let's make a deal." It is exhausting and unprofessional. Although I am an intelligent and educated person, I apparently do not understand the writing in their contract and what is and is not covered---according to them. The contract, therefore, is flawed in my opinion. Just be straight with me and do not waste my time. Otherwise--I will reach... Read More
I have 4 properties under warranty with AFC Home Club. Had a claim for a $7000 heating system replacement denied due to the unit being too old. Defeats the purpose of having a home warranty if the age of the unit plays a role in payout. After various discussion with the customer service team and AFC Home club legal department, a $500 payment was made. Buyer beware. Better to go with another agency that doesn't discriminate against the age of the unit but has a yearly claim limit instead.
I paid the 3 year premium on the platinum plan. Before I put my property on market for sale, I had some items to be fixed, but AFC declined due to it was repaired last year. I did not know that I only can have 1 type of service within the 3 years. AFC also refused to replace a broken dishwasher, for a price I paid $500+ for a new dishwasher, AFC only paid me $200, claiming it was too old, like a car, it no longer worth the price of a new one. Moreover, when I cancelled the plan after I sold my property. AFC calculated as follows (copied from their email): Amount paid in: $1295 $1295/36 months = $35.97 Cost per month: $35.97 Months active: 14 x $35.97 = $503.58 used Claims... Read More
