While every loan requires slightly different documentation depending on the borrower’s financial details, apart from credit score, Better also asks for two years of W2 forms and personal tax returns, the most recent two months of pay stubs and bank statements (from all accounts), and updated insurance policies

False Advertisement "No fees, no commission, no really" Its their way of tricking you to believe they are better than other Mortgage brokers. They told me everything was good and payed fees to lock in the rate to realize when it was closer to the end of process they can't approve the loan all of a sudden, But they were to approve if I chose a rate were I pay a big out of pocket fees. DO NOT apply with them. Will not recommend to any one. Don't waste your time and money. They do mine lot of your financial data and ruin credit. Their final goal is not to approve you without any "FEES"

Better.com leads you down a dead end path. They at first seem good to work with and then as you get closer to closing and time is of the essence they stall and pressure you on higher rates. They put up numerous roadblocks all intended to sway negotiations to their favor. I would never recommend Better.com to anyone.

This was way too much work. I submitted everything within the 1st hour when we initially applied for the loan. They then asked to verify EVERYTHING 3 different times and asked for additional information all the way up to 4 days before closing. They quoted me only $5000 in closing costs but after we were past the point of no return & suddenly their closing costs doubled to over $10k. They were supposed to finish everything in 3 weeks but it took 6. I asked for a manager and NO ONE EVER called me even after 3 emails saying that the manager, Kristin, would. I had to call the Title Company to get the fees for closing bc they didn’t. I have never felt angrier for paying less per month.

Better Mortgage follows an extremely narrow and rigid underwriting model. If you are a K-1 wage earner don’t even think about it. Hoping for a parallel closing in which you sell your current house while closing on the purchase of a new home? Not going to happen. Need a closing in 30 days? No chance. But instead of disclosing its strict, inflexible standards up front, the Better sales rep will tell you what you want to hear at the very beginning. We evaluate a company based on the employee’s work ethic, hard work & how they respond to customers. Samantha Nitto, Alyssa Segui and Daniel Cerna took care of my mortgage application & they are amazing indeed. They responded promptly to every query we made. Secure Better mortgage web site is user friendly. Agree with many of the other reviews, company is not the best to work with. I am a paralegal handling a refinance for a client with this company. It has been an unnecessarily long progress and frustrating. Many times the clients file having to be reviewed again and again. Client mentioned to me about having to supply additional information several times. I have to resend documents that were previously provided AND here we are waiting for funds today for the loan to disburse and they are asking for updates to title report, really ? For one, doesn't matter this point since the loan has closed AND asking for title report for change in loan amount which occurred weeks ago which was... Read More

Don't fall for the bait and switch. We were shown a loan estimate that looked good to us. To lock the rate, we had to enter credit card information to pay for an appraisal. Upon doing so, the terms of the loan changed and an additional $3K was added to the closing costs as well as an increase in the APR. We withdrew our application as a result and are still fighting for the appraisal refund as no appraisal was performed. I not only don't recommend, I encourage anyone dealing with Better Mortgage to keep shopping.

Very noncompliant company. We were back and forth about 17 times to achieve nothing. They refused to accept a 150,000 dollar annuity as money that could balance our income for the income:debt ratio. Saying they needed the most up to date statement when I gave them everything they asked and more. I'm beyond fed up with them and recommend you go somewhere else first. They are a young company and obviously green in a few areas because we should of been greenlit from the beginning with the credit score and income I have. Took them 2 months of asking me for every little piece of info before they decided they wanted more info that AIG doesnt even have.
