Like all VA loans, mortgages offered through Veterans United are insured by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Because of this, the company is able to offer loans with significantly more favorable conditions to service members and veterans than usually available to the civilian population, like flexible qualification guidelines, lower rates, lower monthly payments, no down payments, and no private mortgage insurance.

As the country's No. 1 Lender for VA purchase loans, Veterans United has closed over 100,000 home loans for military service members and their families.

Veterans United Qualification Requirements

Qualification Requirements - 4.5 / 5

VA loans are a $0 down payment mortgage option available to Veterans, Service Members and select military spouses, are issued by private lenders, and are guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:
  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or
  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or
  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or
  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

  • Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

If your credit is less than stellar, it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

If you have additional questions about whether you qualify, you can contact Veterans United's Home Loan Specialists, who are available 24/7.

There was a lot of information available to help inform each step of the process. Although there were several steps, we felt confident throughout the whole process. Our loan specialist was increible. We truly appreciated his attention and dedication to ensure we had a successful outcome. He made the process easy to navigate. It felt like we were at the top of his priority list everyday. His team was also very knowledgeable, diligent, and responsive to our needs.

Veterans United makes the entire home-financing process seamless and as easy as possible. This starts and ends with a user interface that is streamlined and dummy-proof, walking the borrower through every step of the process with clear instructions. The MyVU portal makes what is a document-heavy process as painless as possible, and regular communication through email updates, borrower task list, and incredibly helpful people behind those electronic systems rounds out the user's experience. Their representatives were helpful, polite, and professional at all times. I highly recommend Veterans United to any veteran looking to finance a home.

Nick Holman and his entire team constantly went above and beyond for us! We had a very short closing period (that included three major holidays) and our closing was on time and super fast! Nick also attended our closing to help with any questions and to expedite the entire experience. The entire team was always on the same page, fast with responses to questions, and always so kind and helpful (even with our silly questions). Extremely satisfied can’t even begin to describe our gratitude. Thank you so much!

I would highly recommend Veterans United for your VA home loan needs. I thought that it would take at least 3 more years before I owned a home based on my financial profile, but thanks to this awesome company, I am now a proud homeowner!!!

When anyone initiates the process of purchasing a home the percentage chance is pretty high it is going to create unwanted stress, anxiety, unwanted financial burden...ect. and as a Veteran of OIF having sustained injuries during that conflict I was reluctant to attempt the purchase of a home. I want to thank my team at Veterans United for showing me my fears where unwarranted, as I give this review I am still stunned at the absence of stress that was created during the purchasing of my home, if you are Veteran interested in the purchase of home for yourself or your family there a few choice words that will be relevant while dealing with Veterans United...... Professionalism,... Read More
